Hi, we’re Gabriel and Sofia :)

We’re a couple living in Brussels, originally from Brazil (Gabriel) and Italy (Sofia). We’ve both always been drawn to learning about different cultures and ways of life, and we try to combine that with doing things that feel meaningful. That’s pretty much what brought us to Workaway.

Gabriel has a background in international relations, social education, and migration, and Sofia studied communications. Over the years, we’ve both volunteered in different projects—mostly working with kids in summer camps, schools, and community centers, both at home and abroad. We’ve found that we really enjoy being part of local initiatives, getting to know people, and sharing experiences in an open, respectful way.

We see Workaway as a great way to keep exploring the world, not just as tourists, but by contributing to projects and getting involved in the daily life of wherever we are. We’re pretty easy-going, open-minded, and happy to help however we can—whether it’s lending a hand with daily tasks, creative work, community activities, or just being around when needed.

In our free time, we love discovering new places (even in our own neighborhood), cooking together, spending time outdoors, and having long chats about everything and nothing. We’re looking forward to new adventures, learning along the way, and hopefully meeting people with similar values.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Between the two of us, we speak quite a few languages — Italian, Portuguese, English, Spanish, and French — so we’re happy to help with language practice or translation if needed. We’ve both also taught English and done tutoring for kids and teenagers, so we’re used to adapting to different learning styles and keeping things fun and engaging.

Gabriel studied international relations with a focus on migration and social education. He’s worked with organizations supporting children in vulnerable situations through tutoring and after-school activities, as well as with migrants integrating into the job market in Spain. He also has several years of experience working at summer camps, both in Brazil and in the U.S., with kids aged 7 to 16. Oh — and he’s a music lover who plays the guitar and is always happy to share a song or jam session.

Sofia works in communications and social media, and she brings a creative and thoughtful touch to everything she does. She’s volunteered at summer camps in Italy and Romania, and also supported an anti-violence center for women in Milan. She’s especially good at organizing activities, connecting with people, and bringing ideas to life — whether it's through storytelling, games, or workshops.

As a couple, we’re quite hands-on, curious, and proactive. We love creative activities, crafts, games, and anything that brings people together. We’re good at working with kids, planning and running group activities, and supporting community-based initiatives. We also really value open communication and collaboration — we enjoy helping where it’s needed and learning new things along the way.

We're always up for sharing what we know, learning new skills, and bringing good energy to the projects we join.
