    Description

Join Us in the Algarve-Alentejo Region of Portugal!

    About Our Project:

Hello! We are Ruan, Tina, and our little boy, Ray Lua. We have a beautiful four-hectare piece of land in a lush valley with a river, located just 10 minutes from the sea and close to Aljezur and Odeceixe. Our vision is to create a sustainable living space focused on permaculture and natural building. We invite you to join us in this exciting journey and contribute to our eco-friendly project.

    Opportunities:

Starting this spring, we'll be planting trees and vegetables, creating a food forest and setting up fencing for animals. We're also beginning to host retreats and could use help with preparation or assistance during the retreat.

    We welcome help with:

    • Natural Building: Basic carpentry and other tasks.
    • Babysitting: Caring for our son.
    • Cooking: Preparing healthy meals.
    • Land Tasks: Vegetable garden, food forest, animal fencing.

We ask for about 3-4 hours of help each weekday, and we are flexible with the schedule.

    Accommodation and Food:

We offer a sleeping spot in a tent or campervan in our beautiful valley with a flowing river. In exchange for your help, we provide one healthy meal per day. Amenities include a compost toilet and an outdoor shower.

    Cultural and Recreational Opportunities:

Enjoy surfing, exploring charming villages, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, yoga, meditation, and breathwork. We have lived here for four years and can connect you with many inspiring locals.

    Practical Information:

    • Transportation: Having a car is beneficial but not necessary. We can often combine trips for transport. Hitchhiking is common here.
    • Duration of Stay: Preferably a minimum of two weeks and a maximum of two months, but we are flexible.
    • Health and Safety: Use common sense for safety. No fires and preferably no smoking due to fire risk in dry months.

    Our Story:

Ruan grew up in South Africa and moved to Portugal for a change in perspective, focusing on nature and mental well-being. He was drawn to the coast for spearfishing. Tina loves horseback riding, nature, and knows a lot about plants. She has traveled extensively in India and South America, and speaks Spanish, French, English, Portuguese, and Dutch fluently. She is also a yoga teacher and enjoys surfing. Together, we are dedicated to creating a sustainable living space and inspiring others.

    Pets:

We have two dogs and a horse. If you have pets, let’s discuss to ensure it’s a good match.

We look forward to welcoming you and working together to build a sustainable future!
