  Description

  We are located in the scenic town of Bella Coola, gateway to the Great Bear Rainforest.
  We have a beautiful home located in Hagensborg, just 30 kms away from down town Bella Cools, in a rural quite setting, We are surrounded by high mountain peaks, forests with old growth trees. We have a salmon creek that attracts grizzle bears during spawning season each year! My husband and I enjoy hiking our back country, cross country skiing during the winter, salmon fishing, forage in the forest for wild berries and enjoy our orchard with mature cheery, apple and pear trees for our consumption and also share with our neighbours and local community.
  There are two convenient grocery stores, a hardware store, local vet, seasonal cafés, hospital and airport that has direct flights from Vancouver south terminal to us..
  If you love being in nature, you will love our place!

  1. We see food as the first and great common way of cultural exchange so will welcome the workaway guest to share in traditional cuisine. We of course will provide the ingredients and go out shopping
  2. We are homesteaders and grow our own vegetables, fruit juices pressing from our orchard of fruit trees (during this time it will most likely be crab apple juice)
  3. As part of the Bella Coola Nuxalk Nation community, we will introduce the workaway guest to this community. There will be opportunity to participate in potlatch melas (a traditional Nuxalk communal meals
  4. We have a sea boat which we use to go to fish ocean salmon, crab and other seafood. We will bring the workaway on these trips as it is a great way to see and experience the outdoors.
  5. We will show them the old forests in our back country as well as the oldest know Cedar tree in Bella Coola. This is only accessed via boat and is a famous trip, demonstrating the need to conserve our forests!
  6. Nuxálk Nations run and curate the museum which is very rich awe inspiring.
  7. Our Kenya and Danish background will provide a great backdrop to even more cultural exchange through food and music. This we will share with our workaways and learn from them their cultures too..

  Our property has wooden fencing that require fixing/replacing.
  
  We are going to do tasks together as we are working from the house, and be available each morning, and during the day to run through any queriers, task management, etc.
  We will provide, and limited to the below list:
  1. All necessary material - fence poles, planks,
  2. Tools and all material necessary for the attachments.

  Workaway will be sharing our house but will have thier own bedroom, shower/wash room.
  We have a good sized kitchen and will provide/eat together, three meals a day.
  We are willing to cook together as this is a great way to socialize and learn from each other.

  Our place is just off the main highway where the local bus runs each day on a timetable that we can share. They can take this form of transport down to the village town during their free time and visit the main areas of attraction.
  There are very well defined hiking routes and great places to view the spectacular glacier peaks.
  At the harbour where our boat is moored, there are sea kayaks for rent as well as guided kayaking tours and lessons.
  There is an old cannery with a great tour across from the mariner that is also a great day trip.
  Horseback back country tours on horse trails are also available.
  We are very welcoming, enjoy people's company and often hold bar-be-ques in our backyard or along the river and invite the neighbourhood.
  We will do our best to make our workaway guests feel are home, provide more suggestions on areas of interest and seek to suggest or get clarification if we do not have the exact answers to queries.
  We suggest no less than 3 weeks with us from any time between April to July 2027.

  We have a very large area and can take a small van of 8 feet to a very large van of over 40 feet.

  Zuri (3 mois)

  Zuri is a Jack Russell and is our baby.
  We only just her September 1st 2026. Super friendly and enjoys running around and is very very playful.
