Description
We are a large animal rescue in County Kildare who always need willing helpers.
Our volunteers work about 5 hours a day 5 days a week. Our week starts Monday to Sunday and you will have 2 days off within that week, the days off can be in a row or different days.
It is a very busy farm with over 300 animals, the work is very hard but rewarding. The work involves heavy lifting and is very physical.
All the volunteers are a great bunch of people, very friendly and helpful.
It’s noisy and full of people on most days. Always people in and out.
It is very important that you speak and understand some English. In winter you would need warm clothes and warm boots/wellingtons.
We have a no meat policy at the farm.
The farm is a busy happy place 💕

We have a bustling rescue centre where many volunteers come to help out as a team. They will learn about how to treat injuries, basic vet nursing, handling horses, gaining trust, equine nutrition.

Aide
We are looking for three types of volunteers.
We need up to 15 physically fit volunteers able to help with animals, muck out, water, feed, help with fencing, all the tasks needed on horse farms.
We also need one or two volunteers to help in the house. Cleaning, organising, making beds, cleaning cupboards, perhaps making simple lunch for all the volunteers.
We also need some volunteers who want to help with dogs only. Cleaning, walking, feeding.
As a busy farm, we are also looking for some handy volunteers. People who can fix fences and do general yard and house diy projects. You never know what needs doing.
Please let me know in your message which type you are interested in.
A lot of team spirit is needed and the ability to communicate is important.
Good English is essential.
What You’ll Do:
Assist with daily tasks at the rescue center, from cleaning ( such as mucking out stables and cleaning yards), feeding and caring for animals.
Support during emergencies and help new arrivals settle in, often animals in urgent need of care.
Contribute to rehabilitating animals who have experienced neglect and hardship. -

Hébergement
Accommodation is in shared rooms in our farm house. Accommodations are basic but clean and linen etc is provided.
Food will be provided by us, there is always loads of food at the farm for volunteers.
We all eat a vegetarian or vegan diet on the farm. The farm is a no meat zone. -

The opportunity to travel is great. We also have regular buses to the West of Ireland from our nearest village and to Dublin. The area has canal and forest walks but own transport would be advised for real exploration as we are a volunteer based rescue and don't take time off personally.
Great if you have a car but not essential.
Travellers from some countries may require a work visa. Please check if this is a requirement with your country. -

I spent a month in this special place. The work could be really hard and tiring, sometimes we had no more hot water haha, but we always found comfort with such affectionate animals.
