Description
Swiss-Honduran family run small cacao Finca on the northern coast of Honduras gives unique opportunity to backpackers and travelers to work a few days on a organic Cacao Farm. We do the whole process from the cacao three , harvesting , fermentation of the beans , drying , cracking and separating the nibs from the husk and at least packing the Nibs and selling them on the local market.
We do welcome serious Workawayers . My place is more for people who travel central America and like to spend a few days on a farm. We never have work for more then 4 to 5 days. Most volunteers are burned out in short time due to the heat and humidity here on the north coast of Honduras. Normally we do work from 07:00 till lunch. Afternoon you are free for enjoying the Caribbean culture Honduras. Bike rides, beach, go for a ocean kayak ride, visiting the second biggest fort in the world...........ect.
Please note we are all vaccinated and we like our volunteers to be vaccinated too !!Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

Everybody likes chocolate everybody eats chocolate its a great experience to know where the chocolate comes from and how much work is involved to make the Nibs ( raw cacao fragments ) the prime material of all the chocolates.
You will work with local workers, with my hondurian wife and relatives of her. Learn how to work with machete and basic tools. Have lunch with the family who lives on the Finca cooking traditional food on open fire and on some economic rocket stoves designed to use less firewood .Aide
Basically we do all kind of different work , starting by trimming back the Cacao Trees every 2-3 Month. Harvesting the Cacao twice a year this is done by hand with a pruning shears, cutting the undergrowth with machete or Stihl weed eater, fixing fences. We also produce organic fertilizer . We do have a wood splitter to make fire wood. All the work is outdoor or under a shelter.
