Description
Volunteer with us here and gain teaching experience while you travel!
We are a bilingual school located in Cofradia Cortes, Honduras, a beautiful town in the mountains and only an hour from the large central city of San Pedro Sula. We are passionate about teaching English! Our goal is to offer an affordable bilingual education without sacrificing quality. Our students are from families that could previously not afford to attend a bilingual school. The key to our success is native or near-native English-speakers who are willing to come volunteer and help us in our mission. We offer good quality housing and food, as well as teacher training, transport, free WIFI, and endless free meals and hospitality from grateful parents in the community! It's a great opportunity to gain teaching experience, learn Spanish, live in a different country, stop over during your Central American travels, or just try something different!
We are flexible and do our best to accommodate volunteer needs. Whether you are a first time volunteer looking to assist in kinder for a few months or a seasoned TEFL teacher willing to take on a year's commitment, this is the place for you. We can accommodate you for a short visit or a yearlong commitment.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

Cofradía is a small town that is growing every day. While there are still dirt roads, chickens, and "mototaxis," we now have internet cafes, delicious restaurants, a playground in the central park, and two supermarkets.
In Honduras, a volunteer can expect to enjoy luxuries such as WIFI, visiting the mall or movies on the weekend, or eating pizza, while still being immersed in a developing county that struggles from the very real political and economic challenges that face the majority of Latin America today. Volunteers often become close to families and learn how each family struggles from these challenges every day. The majority of volunteers not only learn Spanish quickly, but also learn in a real sense about living in a world so different from their own by community involvement.Projets impliquant des enfants

No Spanish language or prior teaching experience is required. We are looking for passionate, hardworking people. At school, after receiving training from our team, you will begin teaching your grade level! This includes teaching all aspects of verbal and written English to the best of your ability. Each class is at a different level of English comprehension. We are here to help you every step of the way. Your supplies and curriculum are provided by the school, and we will do everything we can to ensure that you your needs are supported.
Our volunteers help Monday - Friday teaching several English classes a day. You are responsible for lesson planning and conducting classes in English. During the interview process we will discuss which grade level is right for you; we teach preschool-6th grade. Volunteers teach English as a second language, art, music, gym, and in some cases Science, which we can discuss based on interest and need. Short term volunteers will doing anything from substitute teaching, helping out in existing classes, running gym class, or helping out with what needs we have.
This is Honduras, so things sometimes don't go as planned, so we ask volunteers to be flexible and willing to help!Langues

Volunteers are housed in a house or apartment located on the property of one of the directors of the school close to central park. It is private, but also close enough should you need anything. There is wifi, electricity, and running water. Two meals a day are provided at school on school days and volunteers are also given uncooked food to prepare in the houses for dinner and on weekends. Rooms are either private or shared with another person of the same gender. There are two bathrooms. The public buses run from one block outside the house. They can take you to the major bus terminal in San Pedro, where you are able to take trips to surrounding locations in Honduras or anyplace in Central America.

Afternoons are usually spent relaxing with other volunteers or preparing for the next day of classes. On weekends there are usually invitations to birthday parties or eat with families from school. There are several easy weekend trips from Cofradía as well, to Lake Yojoa or the beach.
Cofradía is a great spot to stop over in on the way back or to Utila, Roatan, or the coast of Honduras.Informations complémentaires
