Description
I’m Mika, a craftswoman and shop owner living in the beautiful medieval village of Alet-les-Bains with my 7-year-old son. We’re looking for a friendly, responsible Spanish-speaking (plus English and/or French) au pair from early September to mid-October to help 3–4 evenings a week (Mon, Tue, Thu, and some Wed/Fri) picking my son up from school, preparing dinner, and keeping him company until I finish work.
In exchange, you’ll have your own lovely room with a private bathroom, all meals provided, and plenty of free time to enjoy our large garden, the peaceful village, and the stunning Pyrenean surroundings. Perfect for someone who loves children, cultural exchange, and exploring nature and history.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

We live in a large, old character house with a huge garden and a sunny terrace — perfect for enjoying the peaceful countryside air. The village has around 250 inhabitants, but it’s bursting with charm: medieval streets, ancient stone houses, and the famous thermal springs. The surrounding area is breathtaking, with rolling hills, rivers, forests, and historic castles to explore. It’s a paradise for anyone who loves nature, history, and a slower pace of life, but we are also within easy reach of Carcassonne, Limoux, and other lively towns, as well as mountain destinations such as ski resorts, and the sea.
As part of the exchange, I’m happy to share my skills and knowledge with you. I can teach jewellery-making techniques (working with resin and natural elements), offer insight into running a small creative business and managing a collective artisan shop, and share my experience in organising cultural and music events. I speak English, French, and Spanish, so we can practise languages together, and I love exchanging ideas about art, nature, and music.Aide « au pair »

I will need someone available to arrive in the last few days of August, until mid October (the 17th). In exchange for a few evenings of help each week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and sometimes Wednesday or Friday), you’ll have your own beautiful bedroom with a private bathroom and toilet, plus all meals included. The role involves picking my son up from school in the village, preparing dinner for all of us, and keeping him company until I return from work. This leaves you plenty of time during the day to explore the area, work on your own projects, or just relax in the garden.
If you enjoy spending time with children, love cultural exchange, and want to experience life in a unique and picturesque part of France, we’d be very happy to welcome you into our family.
For this role, you must hold valid childcare qualifications and be able to provide all necessary documentation and legal checks required under French law for working with children.Langues

Autres infos...
In your free time, you can explore Alet-les-Bains’ medieval streets, abbey, and thermal pool, hike scenic trails, or visit nearby towns like Limoux, Carcassonne, and the Cathar castles. Regular buses and trains connect the village to Limoux (20 min) and Carcassonne (1 hr), with further links to Toulouse and the coast.
Our home life is relaxed, simple, and creative — filled with art, music, and friendly gatherings. We enjoy sharing meals, culture, and good conversation, but also value quiet moments.
