    Description

In June 2024, we started this project from the ground up. Our vision is about building a farm and educational space for learning, cultural exchange, and community. The education centre will host classes for local schools, run holiday programs, retreats and events.

Our mission is to support long term change by creating local employment opportunities, strengthening food security, and encouraging self sufficiency within the community. Nepal has a long agricultural history, but many young people are forced to leave the country for work. Cost of living is high. Food is mostly imported. We aim to shift this by reconnecting people to the land and creating opportunities at home.

By joining us, you become part of this mission. Every contribution supports a long term vision for a more sustainable and connected future.

We ask for a minimum stay of 1 month so you can fully immerse yourself and make a real impact.

Bhaktapur is Nepal’s most culturally rich and preserved city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a 20min walk from the farm. Known for its temples, our ethnic group (Newa), architecture, art, culture and festivals.

Volunteers will learn to cook Dal Bhat and other Nepali dishes while picking up basic Nepali phrases to connect with locals.

Optional workshops are available in woodcarving, pottery, and Thanka painting, taught by local artisans (paid directly to them). These hands on sessions give you practical skills and support the local community.

Festivals and rituals provide a unique window into Nepali traditions. Farm schedules may change so you can take part in these experiences.

    Saturdays in Nepal = Holiday!
We want you to take it easy, explore, and enjoy. Here’s what you can get up to:
Live music & jamming – We know spots with great local music.
Festivals – We love celebrating local festivals together.
Fire nights – Chill evenings, card games, music.
Tea time – Sip tea at neighborhood shops
Explore nearby towns & nature spots, temples, forests, waterfalls, hikes, and viewpoints.

Since June 2024, we have welcomed over 200 volunteers and continue to learn and grow together. We are all human and every challenge and strength is an opportunity to learn, adapt, and contribute meaningfully. We are looking for volunteers who are passionate about the project and excited to make a real difference.

    Volunteering work at the farm

Farm & garden work: planting, weeding, watering, harvesting, composting, digging, moving rocks, soil, leveling the land, fencing, building bamboo structures, landscaping.

Creative & cultural projects: painting on canvas, capturing photos/videos, helping organize events, or supporting workshops.

Community support & administration: assisting with communication, fundraising research for our NGO registered charity, social media, and event preparation.

We do our best to direct specific work to match your skills, but flexibility is key. Our work is hands on, physically active, and mostly outdoors. Everyone is expected to contribute where needed.

    Daily Life & Shared Responsibilities

Daily tasks like cooking, washing dishes, and cleaning are part of living together, not volunteering. Helping out means caring for each other and the space we share. Think of it as living in a shared home, everyone pitches in to keep the environment welcoming, safe, and comfortable for all.

Our staff are here to assist with tasks and support the farm, but they are not here to provide a hotel style service for volunteers. Everyone is expected to contribute daily, while also participating in farm work, gardening, and creative projects.

    We value:
Leadership > stepping up when needed.
Initiative & proactivity > seeing what needs to be done and doing it
Common sense & responsibility > taking care of shared spaces and each other
Teamwork & flexibility > switching between tasks, projects, and daily life duties.

    Hébergement

Workawayers are currently hosted at our off-site hostel while we complete the final touches for the accommodation on the farm. The space is comfortable, social, and shared with both volunteers and guests.

    -Shared Workawayer dorm
-Access to a kitchen (staff and volunteers only)
-Free use of WiFi, movie room, instruments, board games, common areas, and rooftop

While we do have staff, the hostel is not a serviced space for Workawayers. We all contribute to daily living, cleaning up the kitchen, cooking , and supporting a relaxed, respectful atmosphere.
This isn’t part of volunteering hours, just part of living together as a community.
Meals are vegetarian. We eat dal bhat at least twice a day. (Rice, vegetables and lentils) Volunteers are welcome to harvest from the garden within reason.💧 The washing machine is available Saturdays only.
The daily contribution is $6 per person/per day. If you choose to eat out or buy extra food, the contribution remains the same.
Gates into the property and common areas are locked at 10pm, please notify us early if you need access.
