    Description

I’m Yakir, a product designer and maker from Israel with a background in tech, creativity, and a variety of projects. Over the years, I’ve developed products in the drone industry, built web applications, and worked across design, video, and digital content.

Travel for me has always been about real connection and learning cultures from the inside. I’ve traveled extensively, including long motorcycle journeys through India, Nepal, and South America, as well as time in Africa and Southeast Asia. These experiences pushed me beyond my comfort zone and taught me the value of being adaptable and independent.

Now, I am focusing my energy on this beautiful property in Vilcabamba (Boutique Mountain Farm). I am a hands-on host and I am looking for people who want to be part of something real. I value clear communication and a proactive attitude.

    THE PROJECT:
It is a developing 5-acre mountain farm situated on a scenic hillside in the Andes of southern Ecuador.
The property offers amazing mountain views and a quiet atmosphere.
It is a 10-minute drive from the Vilcabamba center.

While the project is in its early stages, it already features one high-quality, modern house.
A second residential structure is currently in the foundation phase and is expected to be completed within the next few months.
The mission is to transform this blank canvas into a productive organic estate and a peaceful retreat.

    IDEAL VOLUNTEERS:
I'm looking for proactive, independent individuals who are comfortable with simple physical outdoor work and enjoy a quiet, rural lifestyle. Whether you are skilled with a shovel, a camera, or a drone, the most important trait is the ability to see what needs to be done and take initiative. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the foundational stages of a significant Andean farm project.

    Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre

Beyond the daily tasks on the land, I offer a space for genuine connection and a real exchange of ideas. As a traveler who has crossed India, Nepal, and South America on a motorcycle, I love sharing stories about life on the road and hearing about your own journeys.

From a professional side, I’m happy to share my knowledge in product design, the tech industry, and digital content creation. If you are interested in how a project like this is built from the ground up, you will learn first-hand about land management in the Andes, sustainable development, and the "maker" mindset needed to turn a blank canvas into a functioning estate.

We’ll be sharing a home and meals, and since I am also in the process of learning the local language and culture here in Ecuador, we can navigate that experience together.

    CURRENT AND FUTURE TASKS:

    Land Development:
    * Clearing brush,
    * building walking paths across the slope,
    * Establishing the first fruit trees & organic gardens.

    Animal Care:
Plans are in place to introduce chickens, goats, and other farm animals soon.
Once they arrive, volunteers will be responsible for helping with their daily care, feeding, and habitat maintenance.

    Infrastructure Support:
Helping with small DIY tasks and maintenance around the existing house and the new construction site.

    Media and Marketing:
For those with a creative background, there is an opportunity to help create marketing materials for other properties in the Vilcabamba area. This includes photography, drone videography, and appearing in promotional videos. This is ideal for volunteers comfortable on camera or with media equipment.

    ACCOMMODATION & LIVING:
The living situation is communal and based within the main house. Please note the following specifics regarding the stay:

Room Availability: There is one large private bedroom available for 1-2 volunteers, with a private shower and toilet (hot water included).

Capacity: The room can host a single volunteer or two people (a couple or friends/siblings) who are comfortable sharing one queen-size bed.

Shared Spaces: All common areas of the house are shared, including the kitchen and living room.

Facilities: The house is clean and modern, featuring Starlink internet, TV, indoor and outdoor dining areas, and a fully equipped kitchen.

    HOUSE RULES & CLEANLINESS:
As this is a shared home, I place a high value on maintaining a clean and organized environment. I expect all volunteers to:
Keep the house and your room in the same clean condition as you received them.
Always wash your own dishes immediately after use and keep the kitchen tidy.
Generally clean up after yourself in all shared areas.
Mutual respect for the space ensures a comfortable and high-quality living experience for everyone.

Vilcabamba is world-famous as the "Valley of Longevity" and is a true paradise for hikers and nature lovers. Right from the property, you have access to incredible mountain trails, and the Podocarpus National Park is just a short trip away.

The town itself has a very special vibe - a unique mix of local Ecuadorian charm and a vibrant international community. You’ll find great organic markets, cafes, and plenty of places to relax during your time off.

    TRANSPORTATION:
We are located in a quiet, elevated mountain spot, just a 10-minute drive from the center of Vilcabamba. Taxis are very affordable and easy to arrange, making it simple to head into town for social time or supplies whenever you need.

It's the perfect place if you want to be fully immersed in the peaceful "pioneer" farm experience while still having easy access to the village life.
