Ciao! We are a family of three and we just moved to the countryside!
We live on the hills of northern Italy, near Reggio Emilia (45 min from Parma and 1,5 h from Bologna) in a secluded place very close to "Castello di Canossa".
I am a primary school teacher and my boys are 17 and 19. We love nature, animals, foraging, hiking, fishing and building from scratch. We want our Workaways to be part of our family and enjoy the cultural exchange just like us.
We have one loving cat, 1 adopted dog (a 16 year old labrador), a black shepperd dog, a 5 months old maremmano shepperd dog, and some chickens.
I also need help clearing kitchen after meals, and some help sweeping floors and stairs.
Other than that you get a chance of exploring foraging and natural cuisine with me and real family life!
We try to live sustainably and help wildlife and biodiversity around us.
Meals always with us and vegetarian.
Breakfast: self-service around 8 o' clock

Lunch and dinner always with us (around 1 pm and 8:30 pm / 9:30 pm in summer because of the heat)
We forage for food whenever possible and I use lots of wild herbs in the spring.
You will have a bedroom of your own with a shared bathroom outside. I can give you towels and you can use our washing machine and soap.
We have solar panels and use a wood stove for heating and hot water, in winter it's only possible to have a shower every other day.

We are in Valdenza, there are lots of things to see and explore, depending on what you like. Nature and lots of history, good food.
We want our volunteers to be happy and have a great time too. We spend time outdoors, love walking, having friends around, I used to be a graphic designer and run an organic tshirt webshop... we are into photography, interior design... wildlife and biodiversity ...... sustainability. My boys love fishing and bushcraft, they have a good knowledge of wildlife and hunting skills. Vico is building a den in the woods and loves birdwatching, Tommi is more practical and loves building things and repairing. He wants more chickens so we can have eggs and meat from time to time. They are also want to setting up a truffle forest with micorised oaks, hazelnut trees and hornbeam. There are truffles already here in the area and it's a good spot for this kind of cultivation. -
Aide
We need help in the garden, planting shrubs and bringing wood inside for the fire and in the house with general cleaning.
The house has just been renovated and needs some help both inside and outside.
Activities you can choose from:
- Collect and break dead branches and sticks in our forest for the stove in our house.
- Tidy up and organise the shed
- House cleaning
- Help me bring wood inside every 2 weeks in the winter
- planting shrubs and small oaks for truffles (digging)
-build a small suspended wooden platform
- build a simple shelter foe a table outside -
