Hello! 👋😄

My name is Saddam, I’m 35 years old and originally from Algeria. I’m currently living in NYC, where I’m studying English. During my four-month vacation, I’d love to use Workaway to experience a different side of the US, meet local people, learn more about American culture, and improve my English through everyday life.

I’m a very hands-on person and I love building, fixing, and creating things. I’m a handyman with experience working with wood and metal, doing repairs, renovations, and general maintenance. I really enjoy working with my hands and learning new skills.
I also grew up partly in the countryside because my grandfather had a farm, so I’m familiar with gardening and farm life. I’ve spent time around cows, sheep, and other animals, and I’ve had a dog for several years. I love animals and would be happy to help and learn more about farming, gardening, or taking care of animals.

I’m passionate about traveling and outdoor adventures. In 2023, I spent four months hitchhiking around the Middle East, visiting more than four countries and crossing the Empty Quarter desert. Since coming to the US, I’ve visited several national parks, including Yosemite, the Grand Canyon, and parks in Utah. I’m really into hiking, camping, and climbing, and last year I completed a 25-mile hike in Yosemite in one day!

I’m an easygoing, optimistic, and responsible person with a good sense of humor. I love meeting new people, sharing experiences, and trying new things.

I’m not looking for just a tourist experience. I’d really like to become part of a local community, help wherever I can, learn something new, and make some great memories along the way.
