Hi, I'm Hermony!
I've joined Workaway because I would love to experience different environments/people, push myself out of my comfort zone, and meet a community of people with the same interests. I've enjoyed working in nature/the countryside of Japan. Growing up I only visited Japan once when I was 9 and stayed for 3 months. Now being older, I would like to experience more of that environment that I've been missing. Over the last year I was able to visit Japan twice and see my family after 14 years. Although I'm not able to speak the language I feel very at home and want to be connected more to my roots in Japan.
I love the idea of a sustainable, slow life and I enjoyed it the 2 months I was in Japan doing farming and renovation, which are my main interests at the moment. Of course I'm also interested in general daily life in Japan. I enjoy hands on projects so I'm happy to contribute and help out wherever I can! I've been backpacking around southeast asia the past month and have enjoyed seeing and experiencing the different countries, but I'm excited to be back in Japan and slow down a bit.

I'm interested in learning and practicing Japanese. I have been trying to learn on my own and occasionally speaking with my mom to gain some practice. I have family in Japan and eventually I would like to be able to participate in conversations with them.

I’ve worked at a plant shop and now have some experience with permaculture farming which I really enjoyed! Gardening and houseplants is a great hobby of mine so I love working with plants. I currently have about 50 houseplants that I cared for at home.
I do a lot of arts/crafts, DIY, building things (crochet, knit, sewing, painting). Because of this I am pretty good with hands on projects which is what I enjoy. I also did a bit of renovation on a traditional Japanese home.
I'm also a pretty good baker rather than cooking, although I am a good sous chef.
I have a bit of experience with kids. I have many younger cousins and have babysat since they were newborns and I've enjoyed looking after them.
Lastly, I have experience in customer service as I've been working in an airline call center for over a year now.
I am willing to learn and do pick up quick when learning and trying new things.

I love getting to know more about other people and their experiences. I am a bit shy at first, which I think I've been improving on, but after a while I open up more. I prefer one month stays for that reason as well as it's nice to get "settled down" in a place. Once I've been working on a project for a while it feels more special over time.
I also love anything hands on, from crocheting and baking to building and gardening. I would really love to help in any type of renovation of a home or space. One of my goals is to rebuild the home my おばちゃん lived in so I would love to gain any experience I can.
It's nice to create things I can use in my everyday life.
