We like to do volunteer work in communities. My primary skills offered are Carpentry, Culinary and Gardening/Agricultural
Descripción
I love to explore new cultures and new ecosystems. I am motivated by helping others and the planet, enjoy challenges and intellectual stimulation. Outdoorsy but educated, retired military, ex teacher, carpenter and most recently retired chef. I bring a wide set of skills to the table but what makes me different from most of my peers is I have never lost my desire to learn new things. Very adaptable, can thrive in under any conditions, with very few material needs, (internet being the only exception). I am currently completing my masters in Nutrition on line

I have excellent people skills. I am a very experienced cook and baker. I am an ex: teacher,carpenter,stage manager, farm worker and gardener. I have worked in adverse conditions. It was true gift to have Elke and Levi helping us out at the lighthouse last summer. Both of them experienced in the kitchen, Elke enjoyed it most. Elena and Frode went above and beyond to accommodate us as volunteers. They patiently explained their expectations, showed us what and how to do it, but once we understood, they trusted us and were hands-off. We also had a comfortable little home with beautiful views of the Arctic Ocean and enjoyed our long hikes on their mostly untouched island.… read more

They had to put up with some very challenging situations and unseasonably cold weather which made the work we needed to do more difficult but they took it in stride and had a real rural Alaskan experience because of it.
