If your primary interest in volunteers is cheap labor, to save money by not having to pay a local worker, then I'm probably not the right person for your place.

To me volunteering is an exchange. It's an opportunity for people to meet, by sharing their time and energy, by living and working together. I've often experienced an inequality where hosts look down on volunteers, and except volunteers to look up to hosts. Volunteers spend their valuable time and energy to help hosts for almost free. The hosts' net cost (provision of accommodation, food, electricity and water) is usually much cheaper than the salary if they hired a local worker instead, not to mention how much more the volunteers would earn if instead they worked a paid job with their skills and qualifications. Volunteers gift their valuable time and energy to the hosts for almost free, which the hosts should value just as much as the volunteer values the host.
