Hello!
My name is Hope, I’m 20 years old and I’m from West Yorkshire. I am a free spirited, out-going, caring person with a passion for living life to the fullest and exploring all the beauty within the world. Whether that be seeing incredible sights, learning about all about the culture, gaining new skills, meeting new people - I want to fully immerse myself into every opportunity. I’m very open minded so whatever the task may be, I’m eager to learn more and appreciate the special memories created throughout the experience!

I love being outdoors and in nature so things like hiking, climbing and wild swimming bring me such joy alongside moving my body in other ways such as yoga or dancing. I have always been very creative so I enjoy doing tactile work such as drawing, making clothes and crafting in general. Following on from that, I also really like to read books and write poetry and I’m actually currently in the process of making a website to use as a creative outlet and document all my adventures!

I currently work two separate jobs and I adore both of them. One of them is at an outdoor adventure company called “Go Ape” where I'm able to be in nature, doing manual work and encouraging people to face their fears. My other job is working for an organisation called MindMate to support young peoples mental health through using my own lived experience of having my own struggles. One day I hope to become a counsellor so that I can continue to help others through the difficult times in their lives.

I'm interested in learning another language because I am passionate about being able to communicate with people, no matter what their background may be. I love learning about peoples culture and ways of life but mainly, learning all about their passions for life too! Learning a language is such a valuable skill that I hope I am able to improve at upon my travels!

Que habilidades tienes?

Because I enjoy picking up new skills so much and challenging myself to learn new things, I believe I have quite a variety of them. Through working at Go Ape and becoming part of an efficient team, I have been able to learn things about construction and repairs, types of plants and trees (which I love!), whilst also being able to develop existing skills such as time management and communication.

That being said, the main thing I value about myself is my emotional intelligence and the ability to connect with others. This shows through my job with MindMate where I’m able to go into schools and speak at events as well as also having creative freedom to independently make blog posts all to promote mental wellbeing. I have also had the opportunity to be a part of some research studies where I’ve been able to meet with like minded individuals in order to help make a difference.

Whatever the skill may be, I pride myself on having the determination to do good at it. For instance, 2 years ago I really enjoyed creating clothes, especially through crocheting and knitting. I learnt more about it and the techniques and eventually created a small business where I could sell these garments to others. Like I have mentioned, I’ve always had a passion for creativity so I did briefly study at an arts college where I was able to learn more about the techniques behind different types of crafts.

Some of my other skills are cooking, organisation and adaptability. Whatever it may be, I pride myself on the determination to do a good job - regardless as to whether it’s through working with a team or independently.

Throughout my profile, I’ve mentioned about working to support others with their mental health. The reason being, back in 2021, I became very unwell with my own struggles. It was a very dark time in my life and I endured a lot of pain - both mentally and physically. I learnt a lot from those experiences though - ‘every grey cloud has a silver lining’ as the saying goes! I saw the first hand fragility of life and having battled so hard to overcome these difficulties, it has now left me with a completely different outlook on life. I want to live it to the fullest and make the most out of this short, yet beautiful time on earth! I want to explore, see magnificent places and meet extraordinarily ordinary people. I’m so grateful to now have this outlook and be in the position that I am in. Mainly I want to help others and show them that things can get better. Even if they don’t believe it - I too was once that person. Whoever you may be, I appreciate you taking the time to read through my profile and I hope we have the pleasure of meeting in person someday!
