Hi,
I am Sandra and I am from germany. I am a teacher of maths, PE and science in primary and secondary school.
I am 44 years old and travel together with my 12-year-old daughter. Our cats stay at home with her dad.
I am new here, but we had two really great work and travel experiences about the organisation "Urlaub gegen Hand" last year in Sweden and in Andalucia and we would love to repeat that this year. Before that, I took package vacations with my daughter every year during the vacations, but I realized again last year that I was missing the immersion in the other culture, .....the exchange, the enrichment.
We are sociable and easy to care for. Because of already led work camps and teen camps in many holidays in my life and in addition to this also lived in foreign families (in Shanghai and in Thailand) for few months before my daughter was born, I bring a lot of adaptability with me. I love the beach and we would to stay in the near, but I don´t like to lay down there every day. I prefer to build sandcastles, go swimming, collect stones, play ball and so on.
I like all kinds of sports. In our free time both of us like to go rollerblading, reading, playing volleyball or doing creative things like painting stones, making dream catchers, sewing cushions or whatever else we can think of. I refurbishing old furniture (vintage/shabby chic style), anything to do with painting, but I also love gardening. (We bought our own old house with a huge garden 14 years ago, where there is always something to do inside and outside, and we try to prepare all with natural things. Thus I am also familiar with manual work. In the garden, a new project is added every year, whether it's an orchard, a new vegetable patch, an herb spiral, or just a new flower bed. :-)) I am intersting in healthy and sustainable lifestyle and try to put it into practice.
I can help in and around the house as I am handy. We did a lot of things in our house ourselves (working with concrete, plastering walls, filling, painting, insulating, installing electricity, etc.). We only worked with organic materials in a resource-saving way.

As I love children of all ages, we would like to live in a family with children, engage with them, play with them, do sports, look after them, give them stimulation. I can babysit in the evening, whenever do you want it. It´s no problem.
My daughter likes to meet other children. She would love to have interactions with her peers as well as be with younger children. She loves playing with younger children, helping them and doing creative things with them.
Because of grewing up with animals and also had my own horse, I am also used to stable work. We can enjoy taking care of animals. Last year we are staying for two weeks in Nerja and doing petsitting and fincasitting (a dog, two horses, chicken, ducks, cats, parrots).
At home I cook for our family every day. But I cannot cook paella. I want to learn it. :-)
As my daughter has been learning Spanish at school for two years and we both love Spain and Andalusia in particular, we would love to go on holiday in Spain again.
We hope for an interesting language and cultural exchange.

Ps.: If you would like to have current references and a rating about me, I can gladly put you in touch with the two hosts last year. This year in october (for two weeks) we are going to the family in Nerja again to sit the pets and the finca. :-)

Because of having a permanent job as a teacher in Germany, I can only travel during the vacation season. This year (2023) it is possible from July, the 25th to august, the 15th (3 weeks).
Next year (2024) we can travel between June, the 24th and august, the 3th (5 weeks).


Hola, soy Sandra y vengo de alemania. Soy profesora de matemáticas, educación física y ciencias en primaria y secundaria. Tengo 44 años y viajo con mi hija de 12 años. Nuestros gatos se quedan en casa con su padre. Soy nueva aquí, pero el año pasado tuvimos dos experiencias de trabajo y viaje muy buenas con la organización "Urlaub gegen Hand" en Suecia y en Andalucía y nos encantaría repetirlo este año. Antes de eso, tomaba paquetes de vacaciones con mi hija cada año durante las vacaciones, pero me di cuenta de nuevo el año pasado que me estaba perdiendo la inmersión en la otra cultura, .....el intercambio, el enriquecimiento. Somos sociables y fáciles de cuidar. Como ya he dirigido campos de trabajo y campamentos para adolescentes en muchas vacaciones de mi vida y además también he vivido en familias extranjeras (en tailandia un en shanghai) durante unos meses antes de que naciera mi hija, traigo conmigo mucha capacidad de adaptación. Fue un gran enriquecimiento cultural para mí cada vez y me encanta.

Me encanta la playa, pero no me gusta tumbarme allí todos los días. Yo prefiero construir castillos de arena, ir a nadar, recoger piedras, jugar al bal,…….Me gusta todo tipo de deportes. En nuestro tiempo libre a los dos nos gusta ir a patinar, leer, jugar al voleibol o hacer cosas creativas como pintar piedras, hacer atrapasueños, coser cojines o cualquier otra cosa que se nos ocurra. Me gusta restaurar muebles viejos (estilo vintage/shabby chic), todo lo que tenga que ver con la pintura, pero también me encanta la jardinería. (Compramos nuestra propia casa antigua con un jardín enorme hace 14 años, donde siempre hay algo que hacer dentro y fuera, e intentamos prepararlo todo con cosas naturales. Así que también estoy familiarizada con el trabajo manual. En el jardín, cada año se añade un nuevo proyecto, ya sea un huerto, una nueva huerta, una espiral de hierbas o simplemente un nuevo parterre. :-)) Me interesa el estilo de vida saludable y sostenible e intentar ponerlo en práctica.
Puedo ayudar en y alrededor de la casa ya que soy manitas. Hicimos muchas cosas en nuestra casa nosotros mismos (trabajar con hormigón, enlucir paredes, rellenar, pintar, aislar, instalar electricidad, etc.). Sólo trabajamos con materiales orgánicos, ahorrando recursos.

Como me encantan los niños de todas las edades, nos gustaría vivir en una familia con niños, relacionarnos con ellos, jugar con ellos, hacer deporte, cuidarlos, darles estímulos. Por supuesto, también puedo hacer de canguro por las tardes.
A mi hija le gusta conocer a otros niños. Le encantaría relacionarse con sus iguales y también estar con niños más pequeños. Le encanta jugar con niños pequeños, ayudarles y hacer cosas creativas con ellos. Debido a grewing con animales y también tenía mi propio caballo, también estoy acostumbrado a trabajo estable. Podemos disfrutar cuidando animales. El año pasado estuvimos dos semanas en Nerja cuidando mascotas y fincas (un perro, dos caballos, gallinas, patos, gatos, loros). En casa cocino para nuestra familia todos los días. Pero no sé cocinar paella. Quiero aprender :-) Como mi hija lleva dos años aprendiendo español en el colegio y a los dos nos encanta España y Andalucía en particular, nos encantaría volver a ir de vacaciones a España. Esperamos un interesante intercambio lingüístico y cultural.
Ps.: Si quieres tener referencias actuales y una valoración sobre mi, con mucho gusto te puedo poner en contacto con los dos anfitriones del año pasado. Este año en octubre (durante dos semanas) vamos a la familia en Nerja de nuevo para cuidar a las mascotas y la finca. :-)

Debido a tener un trabajo fijo como profesor en Alemania, sólo puedo viajar durante la temporada de vacaciones. Este año (2023) es posible desde el 25 de julio hasta el 15 de agosto (3 semanas). El año que viene (2024) podremos viajar entre el 24 de junio y el 3 de agosto (5 semanas).

I love being with children and animals and taking care of them. I do it a lot in my life.
I can help in the garden, because I have a big garden and we try to do permakultur.

I like working with wood, for example refurbishing and painting old furniture, building bird houses and insect hotels and so one.
I like to work creatively for example making dreamcatchers, building mosaic stepping stones, building my own sink with ytonstones and painting and sealing it with tadelakt.

I don't know what the Workaway recommendation is in terms of bringing a child. Because it is mainly me who helps and not my daughter, I can contribute food, of course.
