We are Viviane and Etienne,
we are currently travelling and looking for workaway opportunities in Central and South America.

We're easy going, curious, independent and calm people. Interested in sharing knowledge, learning new skills, language exchanges and meeting new friends around the world.

We both traveled quite a bit already and experienced volunteering in different places, this is why we want to renew this amazing experience. We had amazing workaway stays in Thailand recently and we'd love to do even more.

We're hard working and always willing to help as much as possible.
We don't mind simple/minimalist living, we enjoy peaceful places and we're definitely not party animals.

Que habilidades tienes?

- Cooking (Viviane is a Chef and Etienne worked as a commis/server, we're both huge foodies and we enjoy trying new recipes constantly , Viv makes her own sauces, kimchi, pickles, kombucha, chili paste, chili oils, various baked goods etc )

- Farm work (We both did various farm work like harvesting, planting, pruning etc)

- Animal care (We're very used to taking care of dogs, cats and chicken, Viviane also spent few weeks in Greece caring for a herd of goats)

- Gardening (Viviane used to have a plot of community garden and she is very knowledgable about plants, organic gardening, permaculture etc)

- Construction (Etienne worked in construction in New Zealand)

- Photography / Videography (We're both passionate about photography, especially analog photography, Etienne loves cinema and filmmaking too he participated to a couple movie shootings)

We had the chance to spend around 7 weeks in beautiful Khura Buri.
Before our stay we met Karen in Khao Sok and took care of her dog and her cat for a few days in her lovely house. Karen is such a wonderful, genuine and kind person we’re glad we got to meet her in person.

This place is truly a gem and we feel grateful to have had this … read more opportunity to look after these amazing dogs. The bungalow itself is approximately 10-15 minutes from town by scooter, surrounded by beautiful nature where the dogs can roam freely. It’s good to know that driving a scooter is almost mandatory there otherwise it might be difficult to do simple things like getting drinking water, groceries or to run any errand related to the dogs (pickup up rice, meat, medications when needed etc). If you enjoy being away from the crowds of any tourist spot, and want to experience real rural Thailand with amazing dogs, this is definitely the place for you.

During our stay there was 6 dogs there, Deng, Snoopy, Dam, Chicken, Blondie and Scrappy - 3 seniors and 3 young brothers. There is a good dynamic between all of them, the seniors can require a little bit more attention (it’s good to get the habit to check for skin problems, wounds or anything really, like you would do for your own pet). If you want to relax or if you’re feeling adventurous there’s always a dog to match your energy. They will adapt to anyone and will follow you everywhere you want to take them. They absolutely loved that we brought them on walks several times a day and were always down for a good scratch, they also enjoyed getting brushed regularly (which was important because they live outdoors so they can get dusty very quick).

It is a very rewarding Workaway experience as all the dogs will give back all the care, love and attention you give to them. We were supposed to leave after 1 month but something came up and Karen needed some last minute volunteers so we offered to help, changed our plans and ended up staying 3 weeks longer around Christmas/New Year (that’s how great the dogs and this place are)

On our free time we got to explore the area, visit a beautiful waterfall, go to the empty beaches, go to the local markets for grocery and to try some street food etc. There is quite a few things do to within a 30 min radius.

and to the next volunteers please take a extra good care of these sweet dogs, we miss them already.
