Hi! My name is Diane and I am a teacher in the United States. I have been teaching communication courses (public speaking, interpersonal communication, etc.) at the college level for 25 years. I have volunteered abroad teaching English in Cambodia, Peru, and Brazil, and working at an elephant village in Thailand. I am looking to connect with families/ schools/ people who would like to improve their English (but I am open to other projects as well). I have both a bachelor's and master's degree in communication studies. I am a mom of 2 boys (18 and 20 years old) and I am open to trying new things. I would like to find travelling/ volunteer opportunities during my breaks from school (winter break, spring break, and summer). I am also a published author.
I LOVE dogs, but am allergic to cats.
I am 52 years old and in good shape, but intense physical labor is too much for me. I am definitely interested in exploring, being outside and seeing your country, but I don't want to throw my back out pushing myself too hard. That being said, I am also a certified Zumba Fitness instructor (Latin inspired/ world rhythms dance) and would love to share that as well.
I am an easy-going, fun-loving person. I get along well and easily with most people.
I have outgrown the stage of going out late, drinking, and partying. That's not my scene. I love to go out dancing, but I like to be in bed at a reasonable time and get good rest.
I love being around people, but I also love some down/ quiet time.

I would prefer having my own room and need a reliable internet connection (as I may be teaching online/ working on my computer during down time).

Because I have a family of my own, my stays would need to be 2-3 weeks.

I am a college professor in California, U.S.A. I teach communication classes. I am very interested in helping people improve/learn English. An ideal workaway for me would be working in a school (any age) where I can visit classrooms and (speaking English) talk about American culture, answer questions, and help students practice their English skills. I would prefer to have my own bedroom and need high-speed internet to stay in touch with my family (2 teenage sons and a husband). My perfect scenario would be to stay with an employee of the school who is willing to show me around your beautiful country, let me eat meals with you, etc. I would love to be a part of your family for a short time. Public speaking, communication, writing, speaking, conversational skills, working with kids, dancing (I am also a certified Zumba instructor), I love to cook and am pretty good at it, I have mid-level skills with a computer. I am very comfortable being recorded /speaking on video and am happy to make videos for your organization. I am also good at speaking in front of large groups or even clients of yours if needed.
