My name is Dan and my core profession is an accountant. I love travelling and meeting people and have been to 70+ countries so far. I enjoy all the different cultures and discovering new things. I like to have a go at most things including extreme sports. I am originally from New Zealand but have lived in England for four years and in Australia for twenty seven years. I am now living in France since early 2020.

I am an accountant by trade spending most of my working life doing this. I have worked as a sales representative in real estate also mainly selling residential land. I am a creative person as I worked for my father from a young age in the building industry so I am good with my hands. My father had a hobby farm when I was young and so enjoyed doing things around the farm. I love all types of animals and have had cats and dogs as pets. I have had 6 workaway stays in France since February 2020 and have picked up many skills and revisited others. I have been the most time at a chateau (and still am) in Pays de la Loire. I am well respected for my many skils including gardening, repair and restoration work.

I grew up with English which is my main language. Did learn some french when very young but am re-learning now. I have dual citizenship of New Zealand and France. I can live and work in the European Union no problem. With my Workaway experience so far I have learned and enjoyed many new skills.

I stayed for two weeks at Julian's lovely wooden house in the woods. Great conversation shared with her in the evening and the work was varied and interesting which I enjoyed. I cut down and chopped up trees, stacked for firewood, built an extension to the garden shed and some carpentry inside the house. A very tranquil and quiet spot. Thank you… read more

Very interesting stay out in the middle of the Normandy countryside, very peaceful and relaxing and lots of animals. I did some tiling work and some patching and painting with limited resources but all turned out quite good I thought. Travelling into the nearby town of Ducey was quaint and not too far. Mary and Xavier were very kind to put me up during these trying times of deconfinement and the whole family were very helpful and friendly.
