Descripción
Alexandru, 33, Financial & Digital Nomad by day, train & travel enthusiast by heart, professional optimist by default
My grandfather used to take me to the train station as a kid, just to watch the trains come and go — no destination in mind, just the ritual of it. That habit stuck with me way longer than he probably expected, and eventually turned into 12 Interrail trips crossing Europe, chasing the same feeling he showed me on those platforms all those years ago.
By day (and sometimes 3am in a random timezone), I'm a financial consultant — I did my time in Big4 audit, learned to love spreadsheets a suspicious amount, and now I do it remotely as a digital nomad, which mostly means I can work from anywhere as long as there's decent wifi and preferably a train or a plane visible from the window. Somewhere along the way I also spent 5 years volunteering with a student NGO at university, building and running projects from the ground up — which is probably where I first learned that showing up and getting things done matters more than having it all figured out beforehand.
59 countries in, and counting — not because I'm collecting stamps, but because I genuinely believe a smile means the same thing in every language, and I've apparently needed to test that theory a lot. I've learned that the best stories rarely happen at the tourist spot; they happen in the queue, in the shared kitchen, in the campervan parked next to yours.
I'm an optimist by default setting, not by effort — things generally work out, and when they don't, that's usually the better story anyway. I show up curious, I don't scare easily from physical work, and I've discovered that the things I once only dreamed might happen to me are usually one ticket away.
What makes me genuinely happy: a train journey with no particular urgency, people and their stories, a random afternoon in a caravan or a hostel, and doing things I never would've thought to try — or things I only ever hoped I'd get the chance to do.
Looking forward to adding your corner of the world to the list — and hearing the story behind it. -

Que habilidades tienes?
Analytical & detail-oriented — my background is in finance (audit and consulting), which doesn't translate directly into gardening or fence-painting, but the discipline and sense of responsibility that comes with it shows up in whatever I do. I take tasks seriously, even the ones that have nothing to do with spreadsheets.
Physically fit — I run regularly, so I show up with decent stamina for physical work. No professional experience in manual labor, but I'm a fast learner with enthusiasm to spare, and I don't mind getting my hands dirty (literally).
Kitchen experience — I spent two summers working in a kitchen in the US, and cooking for a crowd is a skill that stuck. Feed a group of hungry volunteers? I've got this covered.
Languages — English (upper-intermediate), Spanish (beginner to intermediate), Romanian (native), plus scattered words and phrases picked up from various corners of the world I've passed through.
Curiosity — probably my most transferable skill, and one that comes in handy no matter where I land.
Adaptable — during the pandemic I cut my own hair. Was it a professional result? No. Was I genuinely pleased with the outcome? Also yes. Take that as proof I can improvise when needed. -

I had a great time here. As a railroad enthusiast, getting to help out at an old train station was so much fun. Communication was easy from start to finish. Most of my volunteer tasks were outdoors, which I happily counted as my daily workout.
