Descripción
I'm on a break from academia and looking for a new direction in life more aligned to my values and needs.
I'm new to Workaway and inspired to meet people by joining a place for a while. I'm happy to help out with for example language teaching or art and activism projects.
My professional experience is mostly related to writing and research. My (so far unfinished) PhD is about indigenous rights in the "green" energy transition, in the context of the North and the indigenous Sámi people. Social and environmental justice are at the heart of everything I want do professionally.
I enjoy nature and just spent a month doing outdoor work in the mountains near Fethiye. Right now I'm in Istanbul and absolutely loving exploring this beautiful city!
I would like to get more in touch with my creativity. I have done dancing on and off most of my life and feel a call to learn to express myself more musically and through visual and hands on projects.
I'm a beginner climber/boulderer and snowboarder. I also do yoga from time to time.
I lived most of my twenties in Scotland and returned to my first home Helsinki about two years ago. Now it feels like it's time for something new.
I'm a relatively social introvert who thrives in deep, meaningful connections but also in spontaneity and adventure.

Que habilidades tienes?
I have experience as:
- researcher (feminist and decolonial approaches on social justice)
- civil servant (asylum, international protection)
- journalist and communications officer in NGOs.
I can help out writing e.g. blog posts or grant applications. I don't love social media but have some experience in fundraising and advocacy in that area too.
Happy to learn new skills and do hands on work.
I can use hammer, saw, axe and, with instructions, work independently on small building projects.
I've volunteered before e.g. in restoring ancient pathways in a remote island in Greece.
I have some practical experience as an activist, e.g. as a welfare person organising food and other support at protests.
I've also worked with children from babies to teenagers as:
- assistant teacher
- nursery teacher
- childminder
- after school care club instructor.
I'm not a kitchen wizard but I can cook and always try to learn from friends who prepare food with such skill and soul.
I'm super organised and keep my surroundings tidy. It helps me feel calm and think more clearly, although I've learned to chill a bit with life's messiness too :)
