Hi, I'm Mélanie, from France, nice to meet you ! :)

Travel is one of the driving forces in my life. If globetrotting were a job or a field of study, I'd have chosen it without hesitation. I'm passionate about heritage and culture in all its forms : monuments, nature, traditions, and discovering new languages and this is the field I studied and would love to build a future in.

I'm really glad I found this platform, because it matches exactly what I'm looking for: traveling, discovering cultures, and sharing genuine moments with locals. It's also giving me the motivation to return to countries I've already visited, this time to immerse myself more deeply in the local culture and to explore the places I missed. This something that isn't always possible as a regular tourist.

I started my first Workaway experience in August 2026, so I'm still new to the platform but I wanted to share a bit about it here. I helped my host with a variety of everyday tasks: cleaning, assisting with sorting the trash/recycling, painting, weeding, and helping another workawayer to take care of a litter of puppies. I really enjoyed the variety of tasks, to being useful in different ways, and I'm looking forward to gaining more experience like this.

Improving my English, especially speaking and listening, is another one of my goals. Since I don't live in an English-speaking country, I don't get much chance to practice daily, so this feels like a great opportunity, both to work on my English and to rediscover myself by learning new things I wouldn't normally get to try.

I'm into photography, and one thing I'd love to do is start a blog to share my travel experiences and introduce them to others. Outside of travel and heritage, I enjoy creative hobbies : drawing, sewing, and other crafts whenever I get the chance, as well as reading. I'm also a big fan of Asian pop culture.

I'm a curious and adaptable person who genuinely enjoys discovering new things and stepping into unfamiliar environments. I've held job outside my field of study, all of which went really well. I've learned to work well in teams, stay flexible, and pick things up quickly.
I truly believe everyone has something valuable to teach, and I love both learning from others and sharing what I know.

By studies, I'm a geographer specialized in heritage, landscape, and the environment — so anything connected to these topics genuinely excites me, and I'd love to get involved in projects around them.

I grew up in the countryside, where my parents and grandparents have always kept vegetable gardens, a tradition still very much alive today. So gardening and outdoor, hands-on work aren't new to me; it's something I grew up around and feel comfortable with.

Beyond that:

I love creative and hands-on activities, and I'm into photography
I'm an animal lover
I care about people's wellbeing and personal growth, and enjoy meaningful exchanges with others
I'm excited to learn about local cultures and just as happy to share mine.
