Hello, I'm Maya, 19 years old, and I graduated from high school in Germany this year. I'm a vegetarian and love spending time in nature, being creative, and doing sports. I've also helped out on an organic farm several times. Now that I'm done with school, I'd like to improve my language skills, see more of the world, and meet great people :)

I love singing and making music. I also play the piano and am trying to teach myself guitar. I'm also open to getting to know new people and cultures, have experience with gardening, and enjoy cooking.
In recent years, I've done a lot of acrobatics and I'm happy when I can inspire others to do the same :)

She IS life. So fully alive, creating, enjoying, connected with herself and us and all tasks and nature around her.

Her wisdom at her young age (19!) is a mixture of a wonderful upbringing in which she was completely trusted in her capacities, inmunity, creativity, empathy... and in which she was treated as an adult and could decide for herself in such a supported manner (her parents are incredible, we can´t wait to meet them) and her natural tendency to observe, make herself big and small life questions, ponder about them in her journal, share them, be open and truthful and bring the best out of the people around her. And this all turns specially wonderful when around a little boy who is growing up... she is such a beautiful healthy example for the boy to have around.

She is PURITY. She speaks from an undirtied heart, thinks from such a clean mind, feels from such a pristine spirit.

She is MAGIC -she makes life magic because she can turn all our dreams into reality, how? By trusting them, enjoying the process, really being a super fun part of it all, through her ideas and offers, by being so chill and same as happy when things don´t work or don´t turn out as expected in a certain moment, by always being miraculously available when necessary and finding her perfect and super sufficient times to go to write, bathe, hike, baske in the waterfalls... by her in such a harmonic dance with us and the universe.

She is a PARTY, she makes breakfasts, lunches, dinners, dust cleaning and anything she does feel great to her and all around her.

So, what is it that she does to make life around her so great? I guess it was a simbiosis in which our way of living and feeling and hers matched super well. Here at least she woke up whenever she wanted, she was a joy from second one to have around in whichever her daily inspiration (wether she started the day by reading, by playing the piano, by doing dishes, cleaning up or by asking for anything that had to be done as a priority and that she wasn´t seeing ; ) and we never had a doubt that the day would be great and all necessary would get done. Same as happy and concienciously she would clean a water deposit, create a wonderful lunch out of wild gathered plants and whatever she could find around, improvise in the piano with the boy, put on Dire Straits and clean the dust, fold clothes, dress the boy, wash his face, comb his hair and wash his teeth, do craneo sacral, clean a bathroom (even the drains!!), move tons of stuff from point a to point b and organizing it orderly looking, sew with the machine, order bricks or tiles, leave a barbeque looking stunning, making organic dishwasher machine soap, organizing stuff in closets following the existing order, playing ball with the boy, feeding the chickens, putting them in (and remembering it!), feeding the horse (and remembering it too!) and even if this was just before bed because the day was so full that we had left it for super last minute, putting special anti worm treatment in old wood, making sour dough bread, clean the gutters, taking pictures, be part of pictures for a blog for the educational environment we are creating, perform piano in the chestnut trees as part of the musical forest project, perform piano in the village while I went to sell sugarfree carob bombons, put the boy to bed in the sweetest manner, sweep the floor inside or outside, paint bags with so pretty designs, play the guitar, play piano before sleeping as a lullaby to all (wow, this was so so so heavenly : ) : ) : ) : ) : )

It is maybe not so important what she does (basically anything that needs to be done, she is so open to have every day be different, to ask in the morning and be told any priority even if totally unexpected, to learn from us, to investigate on her own... ) but HOW she does it: in the most joyful , autonomous, emanating great energy manner : ) : ) : ) : )

We love her, she has become our daughter too (shared with her so truly amazing parents), we would in one hand love that she is always here with us and in the other hand we would love that she lives all the wonderful opportunities and adventures she could ever dream of. It is beautiful to know that we are her dream in so many ways, because she is ours too ; ) : ) : ) We have been preparing together towards the educational environment up here for children and families because she has the same longing and calling that children and teenagers and all people can just be themselves and follow their true inner motivation, which renders always an ever so constructive human being in such harmony with him/herself, others and the environment around... And we have invited her to our homebirth of new baby in July, because she holds space beautifully and so naturally, is so flexible especially in challenging times, is such a peaceful company for the boy, such a huge help in the day, such a telepathic wink from life joining in whatever life is asking for in the freshest as well as wisest manner... because she is music and body freedom and support... and a true angel to us.

I can’t describe how grateful I am to have found you on WorkAway. And I am already looking forward to seeing you again soon :)

It was not just a WorkAway opportunity. It was the door to my second family!
This family isn’t just a lovely place in the mountains, this family gives you the opportunity to … read more reconnect with nature. To find yourself. To manifest your dreams and to follow them. To find your own rhythm. To figure out what you love and to do the things you love! But of course, you have to be open-minded for that. It isn’t possible to live this free, peaceful life if you are trapped in conventions and routines. Every day is different here in the mountains and that makes life special and interesting. So, if you venture into the mountains, be sure that you are ready to leave behind the boring daily routine and the life of a puppet – and to be free. Instead of bringing expectations about schedules and routines, bring your craziness, happiness, creativity and love to the finca!
It was my first experience on WorkAway and after some days I was sure that I was not there just for working and doing my own things. I didn’t count my working hours or my free days because I was a part of the family. They shared everything with me and I shared everything with them. Of course, there are always a lot of things to do and seeing the result after the work is so satisfying. But even if there are a lot of things to do, we went on adventures together because Cris knows the best hiking spots. But also the sun dances and new moon rituals with María I will forever carry in my heart! AND the little adventures with Javier, my little brother :) We went to the creek, we looked for animals, we danced, we played the piano and guitar together, looked at the stars, cooked, etc.
I learned so many new things, and the most important thing: I could be myself every single second. That’s of course due to the values the family represents, but also to their honesty. They are counting on your honesty, your opinions, your words and your respect. In return, you can of course expect the same from them.
I stayed for three months (from mid-September to December) and saying goodbye was hard, but I knew I would come back. I came back in March for another one and a half months. To see the progress and the difference in the place was crazy. Suddenly there was a vegetable garden, a warm shower and a dishwasher?!
Anyways, water is still much more valuable than in other places, as it is limited. And generally, the approach to life is to treat existing things in a sustainable and appreciative manner. To live in harmony with animals and nature, and to use every gift that life gives us to live a fulfilled life. So if you go there, make sure that you are able to live this beautiful way of life.
And by the way, everything is a party there in the mountains (from the chicken party to the dust party 😉). María will make you almost explode with her positive energy and enthusiasm for new ideas, Cris is the best chef (except if his mum is there, because she cooks with magic powder) and Javier is the most bright-eyed, sweetest and smartest little human I know!
