My name is Marlit Caceres, I am 39 years old and I was born in The Paradise, as you read it, I was born in The Paradise.
The Paradise is a small town in a small country called Honduras located in Central America, we have the Pacific Ocean on one side and the Atlantic on the other, we have beaches, forests, mountains, rivers and volcanoes, we speak Spanish as a native language and we drink lots of coffee.
I grew up in the paradise where I had a calf named “Canelito” as a pet, since I was a child I showed great love for the animals, which made me refuse to eat meat, but the concept "vegetarian" was not known in my town where people actually think that not eating meat is the same as being poor, so it was years later, that I became an activist in an organization dedicated to the protection of animals and the environment and I became completely vegetarian. I haven´t eaten any animal in the last 20 years.
I had move to Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras, to study Systems Engineering at the University, and later on I studied a master's degree in Telecommunications.
After 10 years of work I developed my skills as a project manager in areas such as finance, B2B, commercial and Public Relations.
Since my work was in an office and I never had the chance to travel, my desire to get to know more cultures, traditions and languages made me start researching about traveling and I discovered Couch Surfing! and I started to host travelers from everywhere at home, so somehow I was traveling too, sharing and showing them the city, cooking together international dishes at home, and talking about our customs. And if we had the chance we used to ended the day enjoying our best national “Salvavida”
And without much plans on my head, I decided to start the trip I had postponed for years. I quit my job. I said goodbye to my friends and family and I took the flight to Asia, eager about getting to know its culture, customs, traditions, landscapes and its people, full but very light at the same time.
The pandemic arrived and I had to return home, today again I start the adventure to Subamerica where I hope and I know I will be welcome

She helped out teaching English and cleaning. We were so confident in Marlit we even managed to take a short vacation leaving her in charge of the hostel. Thank you so much for everything.
