Hello there and welcome to my profile where I share a little bit of who I am

I'm Mariana, a 27-year-old adventurer from Portugal with a background in finance and accounting. A few years ago, I found myself in a job that left me feeling unfulfilled and yearning for something more meaningful.

I've explored various communities in Portugal, Costa Rica, and Colombia, delving into permaculture, sustainable building, and natural construction through Workaway experiences. I spent a year living in a permaculture school, where I completed a permaculture design course and became a certified permaculture teacher. I also had the pleasure of teaching and creating several gardens and composting systems, further deepening my connection to the land.
The art of distilling plants captured my curiosity and eventually, I founded my own company specializing in essential oils and hydrosols, sharing my knowledge through workshops and classes.

Now, I'm on a quest for personal growth, eager to immerse myself in different cultures and lifestyles. I'm known for being hardworking, kind, open-minded, and loving. I'm particularly interested in learning about religion, healthier lifestyles, yoga, and meditation.

My relationship with food and how it affects my body is a big focus for me and something that I’m learning about every day. I would love to tell more about this and, therefore, about myself.

Hello there I’m Tom!
I’m known for practicality so I’ll keep this as to the point as possible. By now I’ve been part for 4 years of alternative solution communities in different countries, namely Costa Rica, Colombia, Italy, USA and home country Portugal. My experiences include various Permaculture Design Courses (the student, organisation and teacher side), 9-month permaculture internship, Erasmus EU Sustainability Program Exchange, living and applying permaculture philosophy in projects, various (non*)-sustainable building projects (concrete*, stone masonry, lime, wood, wattle and daub, light clay straw, earthen floor, earthen sculpting, earth & lime plastering, reciprocal and living roof, *see photos) with a 1-week cob oven build and a 5-week full build (rubble trench to living roof) of a cob house as the cherry on the pie. Besides doing permaculture and natural building, I set up a company with my partner, focused on ethical distillation of wild plants for essential oils and hydrosols, in which we give workshops as well.


My goal is to set up my own natural building collective and work professionally as a builder. Over the next years I’ll be working with CruzinCobGlobal as an assistant and eventually teacher in their 5-week builds of cob houses, starting next year as an assistant. Until then I’m looking to broaden my horizon and be part of serious natural building projects. Any method is interesting but my preference goes to working with the mud (cob, adobe).

I’m very focused, ambitious, honest, easy-going, good at bringing a group together and getting things done, and maybe the most important, I’m a student of the heart.
