Hi 😊
My name is Laura, I’m 35 years old and from Germany.

I’m currently planning a longer trip through Mexico and am looking for a meaningful workaway experience along the way. I’ll be arriving in Mexico at the beginning of October and would love to spend a few weeks in one place, get to know the local culture and community, contribute to a project and experience everyday life beyond being a tourist.

I actually discovered workaway for the first time during my time in Canada and I absolutely loved the experience. I did two workaways on two different islands, both in fairly remote settings – one at a small fishing lodge in Québec and another at a resort and café/restaurant on Savary Island in British Columbia. Both experiences were very special in their own way and made me realize how much I enjoy this kind of travelling: slowing down, becoming part of a small community, meeting people from different backgrounds and contributing to everyday life and work.

Living and working in these environments also taught me to be flexible, independent and adaptable. I really enjoyed the sense of community that came with living and working in a smaller, more remote place and I’m excited to experience something similar in a completely different culture.

For the past 10 years, I’ve worked as a freelance brand ambassador, event assistant and hostess for various international brands, trade fairs and public or promotional events. My work has involved welcoming guests, supporting teams, representing companies professionally and helping things run smoothly behind the scenes – always with a positive attitude and a smile :)

I’m flexible, reliable and well-organized and I’m comfortable working with different kinds of people and in fast-paced environments. I enjoy being part of a team, but I’m also happy working independently and taking responsibility for my tasks. I’m not afraid to get my hands dirty and I’m always happy to learn something new.

I’m fluent in German and English and I also speak Spanish and French. I feel comfortable in international environments and usually adapt quickly to new surroundings.

For my time in Mexico, I’m especially interested in experiencing different kinds of environments – from hostels and guesthouses to nature-based lodges, homestays, farms, eco-projects or community-based initiatives. I love being outdoors, exploring nature, going for walks, swimming and simply enjoying a slower pace of life. At the same time, I also really enjoy social environments where I can meet people from different backgrounds.

I’m available from early October and would ideally be looking for a stay of around 2–4 weeks, although I’m open to discussing what works best for the host and the project.

I have over 10 years of experience in hospitality, event work and promotional support. I’ve worked as a freelance hostess, event assistant and brand ambassador for international brands, trade fairs, and public events – welcoming guests, supporting event teams, and representing companies in a friendly and professional way. I'm comfortable working with people from all backgrounds and always bring a calm, positive energy to any environment.

I’m fluent in German and English, and speak Spanish and French, which helps in international and multilingual settings. I’m well-organized, reliable, and quick to adapt – whether I'm helping at a reception, in the kitchen, with housekeeping, around the house, or with creative or hands-on tasks.

I'm confident working both independently and in a team. I enjoy practical work, keeping things tidy, staying active, and learning new things. I'm also comfortable in remote or rural areas and love being in nature.

I’m happy to support wherever help is needed – and always open to trying something new!
