Hi! We’re Johanna and Ben, a couple excited to start our Australian adventure and explore the nature, wildlife and culture we’ve been dreaming about.

We met while working at a ski resort in British Columbia, Canada. Outside work, we spent our time skiing, hiking, camping and exploring all the beautiful nature BC has to offer.

We’re both friendly, curious and positive people who enjoy learning new skills, trying new things and experiencing different ways of life. We’re also responsible, reliable and committed, and take pride in doing things properly. We love animals of all kinds and enjoy the quieter side of life, whether that’s reading, crafting, gardening or simply spending time outdoors.

We’re social and love meeting new people, but we’re also good listeners who respect others’ space and enjoy building genuine connections. We’re curious about the world around us and look forward to learning from the people we meet along the way.

We’re both interested in languages and fascinated by different accents and dialects. We’d love to learn new languages and are happy to share ours too. Ben is a native English speaker, while Johanna is a native Swedish speaker and fluent in English.

Que habilidades tienes?

Work skills:
We both have plenty of customer service experience and enjoy helping people. In Canada, we worked together in a resort country store and in alpine guest services and ski rentals.

Ben has experience in retail, banking and customer support, as well as housekeeping for private rentals. He enjoys hands-on work, gardening and practical tasks, is comfortable with computers and technical issues, and is keen to learn new skills and trades.

I have a background in hospitality, food service, retail, reception and housekeeping, along with a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources and experience in staffing coordination, recruitment and administration. While travelling in North America, I also took part in Workaway projects involving rescue dogs in Mexico and Guatemala, farm work with various animals, and general household help. This included helping with yoghurt and other food production for local farmers’ markets. I also spent a summer working at a guest ranch in Canada.

We’re both adaptable, hardworking and happy to get stuck into different tasks. We bring a positive, solution-oriented attitude, take our commitments seriously and are always willing to lend a hand.

Life skills:
Animal care - I’ve been around horses, cats and dogs my whole life and have also worked with dairy goats. I’ve volunteered at a cat rescue, where I helped with feeding, cleaning, medication and socialising cats with different needs. Ben has also grown up with dogs and is comfortable around animals.

Cooking and food - I enjoy cooking, food preparation and baking sourdough bread. I also make kombucha and have experimented with homemade wine and beer.

Gardening and practical work - I enjoy growing vegetables and flowers and learning as I go. Ben is naturally handy, enjoys gardening and physical work, is comfortable using tools and is quick to learn new skills. We are both organised and good at managing our time.

We’re both eager to learn, happy to help wherever needed and excited to gain new skills, share experiences and make meaningful connections along the way.

We both have drivers licenses for manual and automatic cars and are both comfortable and responsible drivers.

We’re always happy to step outside our comfort zones and feel genuinely grateful to anyone willing to welcome us into their daily lives and teach us new skills and ways of thinking. We’re excited to start this new chapter together and look forward to all the new experiences that come our way.
