Hi! We’re Inês and Filipe, a Portuguese couple, both 26, and we love travelling, nature, photography, creative projects and meeting people from different backgrounds.
From October 2024 to May 2025, we travelled together through Southeast Asia, moving between different countries and cultures on a fairly limited budget. It was a fantastic experience that taught us a lot about adapting to new situations, living simply, solving problems as we went, and, most importantly, enjoying the journey rather than rushing from one place to another.
After coming back to Portugal, we decided we weren’t quite ready to stop travelling just yet! We’re now in Japan on a Working Holiday Visa, and we’re very excited to spend this next chapter exploring the country, meeting people, discovering new things and getting to know Japan beyond the usual tourist experience.
This is one of the reasons we’re back on Workaway. We’re looking for opportunities where we can get involved in a project, contribute to the people we’re staying with, and experience a different side of Japan. We enjoy being outdoors, cooking, exploring new places and getting to know the people and communities around us.
We’ve both had previous Workaway and volunteering experiences, and we’ve also hosted people ourselves during a renovation project. So we’ve experienced both sides of the exchange and know how important it is to be respectful of someone’s home, time and expectations.
A little about Inês: I’m a sound designer and photographer with a background in audiovisual production. I’m naturally curious and tend to get very excited about discovering new things. I grew up spending a lot of time outdoors, either camping with my family or staying with my grandparents in the countryside. These days, I still love hiking, being by the ocean, music, taking photographs and sharing meals.
A little about Filipe: I’m a professional photographer and videographer, and I’ve always enjoyed combining creative work with a more hands-on lifestyle. I love photography, nature, hiking and, perhaps most importantly, food. I enjoy cooking and trying recipes from the places we visit. I’m pretty easygoing and enjoy being around people, but I’m also perfectly happy spending a day working quietly on a project.
We both speak Portuguese and English fluently, and have some knowledge of Spanish and French. We’re also always trying to pick up a few words of whatever language is spoken around us.
We’re excited to see where this next adventure takes us, meet some great people, learn from them, share what we know, and hopefully leave every place we stay a little better than we found it. :)

Filipe
Photography & Videography: Professional photographer and videographer with experience in real estate, promotional content, events, products and other commercial projects. Comfortable with different types of camera work and adapting to the needs of each project.
Gardening & Plant Care: Experience caring for plants and maintaining gardens, including understanding basic plant needs and keeping outdoor spaces healthy and organised.
Cooking: Enjoy cooking and experimenting with recipes from different countries. Comfortable preparing meals and cooking for groups.
Children & Childcare: Experience as a babysitter and as the oldest of 3 siblings. Very comfortable around children and used to being responsible for their needs.
Sales & Customer Service: Previous experience in sales, with a good understanding of communicating with customers and identifying their needs.
Agriculture: Hands-on experience helping with olive oil production and general agricultural work.
General & Practical Work: Comfortable with a variety of practical tasks and working with my hands. I enjoy figuring things out, paying attention to detail and helping wherever needed.
Inês
Sound & Audio: Professional experience in sound design and field recording, with a strong attention to detail and creative approach to audiovisual work.
Photography: Experience in photography alongside my work in sound and audiovisual production, various types of projects and exhibits.
Hospitality & Customer Service: Experience working in restaurants and events, including waiting tables and serving at weddings. Comfortable working with guests, communicating with customers and working in busy environments.
Housekeeping & Cleaning: Experience with house cleaning and maintaining spaces to a high standard. Comfortable with general housekeeping tasks, preparing rooms and keeping shared spaces organised.
Cooking: I particularly enjoy cooking for groups and preparing meals for several people. Happy to cook together with hosts or take responsibility for a meal.
Gardening & Agriculture: Experience maintaining a vegetable garden and helping with my family's olive oil production. I've also participated in permaculture workshops and have an interest in sustainable growing and land management.
House Maintenance & Renovation: Hands-on experience with painting, woodworking, drywall and renovation projects. Comfortable with practical work and happy to take on new tasks.
Music: I studied music for 12y. Can help beginners with reading sheet music and basic musical concepts.
Childcare: Experience working as a babysitter and caring for children.

We have travelled extensively together. We've become comfortable adapting to different cultures, ways of living and unexpected situations. We enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds and are respectful of different lifestyles and routines.
