I'm currently in the Peloponnese having just finished helping at a restored monastery for a week and I'm looking to make my way towards Turkey/Bulgaria and then decide which way to turn. In the meantime I'd like to stau a while longer in the Peloponnese.

I've been on the road for over a year and a half now and the nomadic lifestyle has become a very natural way of living for me. Along the way I've picked up lots more skills and life experiences and I just take things as they come and do what is asked (within reason!) to continue this amazing adventure.

I've worked on sailboat restorations, Carouba tree farm, permaculture farm, techno party farm, yoga retreat etc...I also stayed at a Vipassana meditation centre for a month.
I've learnt how to cook some amazing food and enjoy cooking for and with others.

Yoga has also come back into my life and daily routine and it's been fantastic to practice it in some amazing locations.

My main passion for the last 15 years has been photography. It has been my profession for the last 10 and unfortunately the industries I've worked in have tainted my love for it but it's coming back.......I'm travelling around Europe in my van and I've been re-enthused and have been rather snappy....I've accumulated lots of film I need to develop.
I'm currently living in Milano for 3 months, I'm working for a fashion reseller helping with the transition of studios from London to Milano.....I'm a month in and come April I'll be back on my travels and ready to start my adventures as a workawayer.

I'm really keen on learning another language. I'm currently in Milan and have been learning for podcasts and tapes and attempting to use what I learn when out and about.....Italian in a Manc accent isn't the easiest to understand though!! Now in Greece, I've been a bit slow in attempting to learn the language as I initially thought I would end back up in Italy, so I'm now making more of an effort

I suppose my best skill is common sense. I'm pretty good at solving problems...my background in advertising photography was very much about achieving the ideas of a client, usually based on a few words and some pretty pictures.
I love working with my hands, whether it be making prints in the darkroom to more labour intensive roles. A converted my van into a camper with no previous knowledge, OK it's not quite as fancy as those cool hipster instagrammers but I cut a few holes in the van, hooked up some solar and made a comfy bed and I'm still alive!!
I learnt how to sew a few years back, working in the fashion industry I was quite dismayed with the ethicalness, quality and price of what a pair of quality pants would cost.....so I bought I sewing machine and started making a few clothes, I'm actually not bad at it.
What other skills do I possess.....I like to cook and i like to eat......Oh I did spend a couple of months last year living off grid in a glorious Welsh valley helping out on a rewilding project....there wasnt much planting to be done this time but they were building some roundhouses, I got quite handy with a hammer and nails.

Awsome, just Awsome, pleasure right from the get go, lovely guy, great worker, great company and we got on absolutely fantastic, brilliant with our 6 year old boy and all round I'd highly recommend this lovely man... But don't message him because he's coming back to work with me again ;)

Well it was quite the adventure getting here, Google Maps decided to take me the ultra scenic route, no roads this way!! But me and my van made it safe and sound in the end. 😊 If you go with a 4x4 I highly recommend this route if not just double check the route before you leave and ask Spyros… read more ...which I didn't do!! 🤣

Anyway, what a fabulous week it was. The monastery is quite beautiful and is situated in a valley with trees and mountains encompassing all. It has been restored very sympathetically, the chapel dates back to the 1600's I believe and it has these wonderful frescos, worth a visit just for that.

Although I choose to sleep in my van the accommodation is great and Spyros provides everything you need. I had some of the best nights sleep, so quiet and peaceful. I did a fair bit of stargazing!

So, there were a few things to do as there was a workshop of around 12 people on at the time of my stay. I mainly helped Spyros with preparing the meals, I love being in a kitchen chopping veg and cooking for others and it was a nice number of people to cater for.
I was also on hand to make the guests feel comfortable and help with anything they needed, get them and extra pillow if required.....etc.

The group were very welcoming and we sat with them for meals and I had some great conversations and got to know them quite well. They invited me on an early morning walk and Spyros was more than happy for me to participate.

After the guests left there was the usual clean up, the bedrooms, bathrooms etc and that was that!

Spyros is a great host, he's pretty chilled but knows how to communicate and articulate what needs to be done. The atmosphere he creates makes it feel like a home from home and I will most likely return one day, even if it's just to say hi and have a chat. I'd say Spyros is a good friend now.

The environment was perfect to improve my Greek (although it's still terrible!! 😅).....everyone was Greek so at times I would just listen to them chatter away which really helps to train your ear. I'd occasionally ask Spyros and the guests what they were saying or how do a say this or that and they were very accommodating. Spyros himself speaks amazing English probably better than me 🤣 so we were able to have some really good conversations.

The exchange is a more than fair....plenty of good vegetarian food was provided for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I didn't count the hours, it may have been more or less than 5 hours a day but it didn't feel like work and I had lots of time for myself.

All in all a fabulous experience the only negative was that it wasn't for longer!

Thank you so much for the amazing experience....it's been a pleasure to live with you and be part of the team and now officially a family member!! 😘 It does not seem that i was there for the time I was, it went very quickly!

I can only say great things about Daria and the experience at her place. She is extremely generous and kind.… read more Her knowledge of the history of the area is vast and she loves to share it and encourages you to explore the areas.

There is work to be done and it can be quite labour intensive but the exchange is more than fair.

The things I'll miss the most are meal times.....we cooked together and made a variety of classic Sicilian dishes such as parmigiana, caponata...we made cannoli, fresh bread and pasta.....and we sat around the table and enjoyed all these things together with a little vino.......and the most important part...Scarpetta!!

I'll also miss the animals, little Luigi (not so little now), Dana and Tobia....also the 9 cats (sometimes 11when the neighbours cats sneak round for free food) which Brian was my favourite.....feeding time is quite the experience!

I feel blessed to have had this experience and I and my life is richer because of it....love you Daria, thanks for everything ❤️

Grazie mille per l'incredibile esperienza... è stato un piacere vivere con te ed essere parte del team e ora ufficialmente un membro della famiglia!! 😘 Non sembra che fossi lì per il tempo che ero, è andato molto velocemente!

Posso solo dire grandi cose su Daria e l'esperienza a casa sua. È estremamente generosa e gentile. La sua conoscenza della storia della zona è vasta e ama condividerla e ti incoraggia a esplorare le aree.

C'è del lavoro da fare e può essere piuttosto laborioso, ma lo scambio è più che equo.

Le cose che mi mancheranno di più sono i pasti.....abbiamo cucinato insieme e fatto una varietà di piatti classici siciliani come parmigiana, caponata...abbiamo fatto cannoli, pane fresco e pasta.....e abbiamo mi sono seduto attorno al tavolo e mi sono goduto tutte queste cose insieme a un po' di vino.......e la parte più importante...Scarpetta!!

Mi mancheranno anche gli animali, il piccolo Luigi (non così piccolo ormai), Dana e Tobia....anche i 9 gatti (a volte 11 quando i gatti dei vicini si intrufolano per il cibo gratis) che Brian era il mio preferito..... il tempo di alimentazione è piuttosto l'esperienza!

Mi sento fortunata ad aver avuto questa esperienza e io e la mia vita siamo più ricche grazie a questo.... ti voglio bene Daria, grazie di tutto ❤️
