Hey there!

My name is Elena, I'm from Switzerland. After a few years working as an occupational therapist in pediatrics, a job I am very passionate about, I decided to leave with my friend Sophie to discover other ways of living.

We began our journey together in Alaska in July 2023. And since then, we've traveled through Canada, the United States, Mexico, Guatemala and Costa Rica, creating beautiful memories and skills and hope to continue traveling south and discovering new people, stories and cultures that inspire us. I'm back to travelling now, but solo this time, and the same willingness to learn.

Optimistic and curious by nature, I want to learn as much as possible and take what life gives. If I've understood anything since the start of this trip, it's that experiences are the best schools and the people you meet the best teachers.

I am a big fan of nature, outdoor sport, like hiking and climbing, adventure, culture and history, good food and great connections with people.

Humans and kids:
I think that, working in the health field, my primary expertise is easy contact with people and empathy. I also have a facility being in contact with children as this is the public I worked with when I was a therapist. I have been babysitting for a long time and I have young children in my family.
During my studies, I worked in home care and in hospitals.

Animals:
Animals have been around me all my life: my grandfather had a farm with cows, pigs and chicken where I used to spend all my summer and I always had pets at home (cat, dog).

Cooking and serving:
I also worked as a waitress and kitchen assistant in my parents' catering business during my teenage years and my life as a young student.

Crafting:
I love to create and make things by myself in my spare time. Especially with wood or textiles In my job, I am often called upon to create layouts for my clients. This is also something that I am very attracted to and would like to grow into.

Gardening:
I have a great interest in gardening and plants, I help my mother from time to time in her garden. Permaculture has always been something that interested me enormously. And now it's become a life project. That's why I'm so keen to learn the basics of permaculture.
I'm also extremely interested in botany. I love learning about plants and their medicinal effects.
