Hi, I'm Aboli! I was born and raised in the United States but my family is from India. I've been wanting to solo travel for a long time now, and I finally have the chance to this summer since I have some time before I go back to school for a bit of a career change. I travel internationally often but it has mostly been your typical tourist vacation, experiencing places, monuments, etc and less about connecting with locals and learning their way of life. I've been dreaming about a trip to a new country where I can get to know the land by working with my hands, sharing moments with the people, and learning the culture through food, language, and music.

A bit more about me personally: I'm a pharmacist by training but I also studied Digital Art, so I currently work in Healthcare Communication Design. I will be returning to school to further study medicine. While I love medicine for the useful skillset it gives me, my "ikigai" in life lies in planetary health, and seeing humans, animals, and nature flourish and thrive in harmony, overcoming the destructive methods of living we become accustomed to. My goal for this workaway experience is to learn how others are building this harmonious and sustainable way of life for themselves and their communities.

PHOTOGRAPHY: I run my own freelance photography business. I do events, personal photoshoots (engagement, maternity, baby), product photography, and everything in between. I also love adventure photography and making short films.

COOKING: I luckily grew up in a family that loves to cook and have learned quite a bit of Indian cooking from my mother. I love sharing vegetarian Indian recipes and will be bringing my spices to share with whomever I end up staying with :)

CONSTRUCTION/DIY: I've assisted in installing dry wall, building a fire pit and benches, tiling floors and showers, and many other home renovation activities. While I haven't completed any of these projects independently, I have the skills to complete these tasks under appropriate direction.

GARDEN/ECO: I care for many plants and can do your typical garden maintenance, weeding, cutting grass, planting, operating most landscaping tools (lawn mower, weed whacker, axe, saw).

I love pushing myself mentally and physically in some form everyday. Mentally it usually involves reading a new genre, listening to a podcast on a challenging topic, engaging in debate with friends, or simply getting through an 8-10 hour work day ;-) Physically I love exercising, ranging from weight lifting to hiking to sprinting to hanging upside down on trees. I also love some good friendly competition, and will always be down for a game of soccer, volleyball, badminton, really anything where I can share the beauty of sport with others.
