We are young couple living in Ecuador for the last 3 years. My partner Daniel is from Ecuador, with Brazil/UK background and myself Nadia, with English German background. So you can speak any of those languages during your stay with us.

Our Farm is a total of 84 hectors, the main crop is Oil Palm of which there are 38 hectors.
The rest of the farm is mixed crops, with Yuca (also know as Manioc or Cassava), Black Pepper,Cacao and sporadic planting of Citrus Fruits, i.e. Oranges & Mandarines and naturally growing Papaya.

We also have 24 hectors of Jungle in different parts of the farm, a river running through, natural springs and small streams that break up the plantation, allowing allot of nature to still be untouched, its beautiful.

We also reproduce our own Micro Organisms, organic Fertilisers and Compost.
In the entrance we have a row of Casitas, a small housing block. Two of the workers families and their children live here, the other two houses we have to house our volunteers.
Alternatively Volunteers stay with us in out home , where there is a shared bathroom and and a big communal bedroom, but its spacious and homely.

La Concordia where the farm is located is a town in the province of Santo Domingo de los Tsachillas. The area consists of mainly Agriculture.
Its a tropical climate region of Ecuador, with afternoon down pours in the summer, and sometimes cool nights.

It is 3hrs 30min by bus from Quito, 1hr to the coast and 2hrs 30min from popular beach spots. It is easy to travel from to most tourist routes and highlights in Ecuador.
We have both travelled allot in Ecuador, having both worked in tourism before working at the farm. So we can happily and with enthusiasm recommend you some well know places to visit as well as some less known must sees.

If you want to come help and choose to stay with us we recommend a few things, such as:
    - A decent pair of boots, for walking through high grass and mixed terrain
    - Bring a couple of pair of light trousers and long sleeve tops for the working week
(we generally change tops each day and a pair or two of trousers get us through the week.) Please remember this is a tropical environment, you want to cover yourself because of the bugs but not be wearing anything heavy.
    - A basic first aid kit
    - Sun protection and mosquito repellent, these can be purchased locally
    - If open mindedness, flexibility, patience and relaxed attitude are with you then you wont have any problems enjoying the experience here!

It really is a beautiful farm, and you will get a mixed experience because of the variety of things we have to do.
You contact with locals, not just our workers but people around La Concordia, and can a little insight on how a Organic Finca operates in Ecuador.

The whole experience will create a new awareness and introduce travelers to a different way of living. Not just through the way we live, but from the Ecuadorians we know in the area and the families that live in the farm.
You will have the opportunity to work with a variety of crops, see different methods of Organic Farming, cook with local produce and work alongside the workers themselves, many who also without this experience would never have the opportunity to meet people from your varied background.

This is a great opportunity to experience a working Organic Oil Palm Farm and to get a feel for rural Ecuador.

There is allot to do in the farm such as...
    - Help maintain the farm generally
    - Repair roads
    - Clearing rivers
    - Clearing land,
    - Cutting and replanting Yuca
    - Harvesting back pepper & Cacao
    - Weeding, pruning all the smaller crops
    - Assisting making Bioles, Micro Organisms and Compost
    - Build fences and bug traps
    - Build terraced vegetable garden, or plant fruit trees

And much much more. There is literally always something todo, something to be involved in.

We have just finished building our house, so helping with interior details, touching up work done, working with wood to make tables and shelves and anything creative inside or out, might be how you are involved. Help clear the terrain and make a nice garden around the house.

We also have 4 lovely young dogs, so daily feeding and little walks around the farm might be in your daily routine.

    Alojamiento

In our home, we have a large guest room, where we can fit at least 3-4 beds. We share the kitchen and the daily meal preparation. A home from home hopefully. Here you have Hot water showers and Electricity throughout the day.

The other accommodation option are 'the Casitas', which consists of a simple kitchen, which is connected to an open living space. A dorm room with singles or bunks and an en-suit bathroom are next to the living space and we have electricity from 6pm to 9pm only. This is powered by a generator.
Clothes washing can be done in town, we have a machine at our home or if your feeling up for it a hand wash sink out back of the houses.

There is currently NO WIFI in the houses or in or home (08.2019), but we are working on getting it brought in, so it maybe in the near future we/you will have wifi access in the house. Alternatively if you purchase a local sim card (we can help you with this) You will be able to get Internet on your phone at a personal cost. There is signal in the Farm! :)

Where you stay really depends on whats going on in the farm and how many people we have staying with us.

  • Algo más...

    Algo más...

La Concordia is located with easy transport access to all routes. You can travel to the Mountains for hikes within a few hours, explore the Cloud Forest or visit the beach all only a few hours away. If staying locally you explore the untouched rivers or visit the neighbouring Bosque de la Perla, 200 hectors of protected forest.

We can happily recommend places to visit and thing to see.
