Looking for a couple, because the property is remote, but I am open to a solo Workawayer. If traveling alone, you must be comfortable, as well as experienced living off the grid, for your own safety. This is a grass roots, start from scratch with a blank canvas project. The goal is to create a fully green and sustainable home.
The property encompasses 40 acres with an abundance of wildlife in a beautifully remote area of Pennsylvania. It has a small creek that cut a deep gorge, with some steep sloping terrain to the sides, and an amazing plateau in which you can see miles and miles away at night - once the trees get removed. The land is about an hour from Scranton, and three hours from both Philly and NYC.
Assistance includes help with everything from establishing solar power and making cob for a rocket mass heater, to setting up care and shelter for chickens and goats. The final project for the property will be the construction of the log cabin, which may not even be started until after the winter of 2023.
You will be living in a camper with a compost potty. Transportation includes riding a bike into town.
Having a car will make life easier, but bicycles are available. However, food and supplies will be delivered once a week to the property.
The ultimate goal of this property is to have a self-sustaining home, but it will not just be off the grid. The property will be a place for all to connect through energy and what some call spirituality. Once the infrastructure is established, I hope the place will become a magnet for artists, poets and philosophical minds to come to find clarity of thought - although not all at once. The goal is to add some into an already happy life - and that is intended to be conveyed in first, second and third person.

There isn’t much culture in the woods of PA, but ravelers will experience true off the grid living.
I’d like to start with the big projects first, setting up the solar panels, putting fencing around the camp compound, clearing fields, removing overgrown trees, creating a home and caring for new chickens and goats.
Also, would love to see an original creation of your art as part of the property.
Food for 3 meals per day will be provided, but you will need to do your own preparing and cooking.
Sleeping arrangements will be in a camper. The bathroom consists of a compost toilet, and a gravity shower. There is another camper on site, but it too is a project.
Nothing is local, this is true rural Pennsylvania.
