  Dear workawayers, I'm Franco. I started off as a bricklayer early in life and then worked as a social therapist for 42 years. Now my wife Silvia and I bought this beautiful peace of land in the hills of piedmont and a new chapter is beginning! We felt the good energy of this place right away and I hope you will, too. Our vision is to create a cozy little paradise that is there to be enjoyed by our 5 kids, 6 grandkids, workawayers and other people. A space that feels like home and lets whoever wants to come recharge their batteries.
  
  The land extends to 1,5 hektars, the heart of it being a 'rustico' from 1619 with high bowis units. It has a charakter of its own and we'd love to continue to renovate it in a way that allows its special charm to come to shine more and more. Almost half of the rustico is already fit for us and you to live in. There's one big, cozy workaway room and a second one is in preperation!
  
  The property is surrounded by nature, offering a beautiful view on the dreamy woods and hills. The atmosphere is serene and quiet, alomst as if you live on a secluded island. The calm, clear energy here is ideal if you're looking for a place to get into a state of peace and being in the now while doing practical work and at the same time enjoying the fine things in life. Maybe you come with a personal intention or question that you want to contemplate on for yourself. Also, when you want clarity on a specific topic, this would be very suitable. People have said that they have never had a deeper sleep than here, so I think it's a good place to relax both mentally and on a subconscious level.
  
  Silvia lives in Switzerland most of the time and is here as often as her working situation allows it. Since I delight in being around people, philosophizing about life and opening my mind towards new perspectives and life stories, I would be happy to welcome you and more workawayers here and simply share what this special place has to offer.

  There's medieval churches, castles, beautiful old medieval towns and villages within the radius of 30-50km and also stunning, still quite untouched nature sites. I'd love to organize trips at weekends to show you these amazing places! In the summer and autumn, there are many village and music festivals close by, with concerts from really good musicians that are worth listening to. There's also charming restaurants, bars and cafés to explore and of course, If you're a pizzafan, I'm going to take you to the best Italian pizza place!
  
  I can also help you to connect with local friends and or to find swiss, german or dutch speaking people if you want to get in touch with someone who lives in this area and speaks your language. The ocean is an hour away from here by car, I'm happy to show you the seaside in spring or autumn and make a day trip to Noli or Spotorno together. Other than that, there's a lovely market every tuesday and friday in this area with delicious seasonal fruits and vegetables, local meat, honey and cheese and also clothing and shoes. If you want to learn Italian, I would be happy to speak Italian with you, my level is good enough for day to day talking. Also, if you're interested in gardening, permaculture, woodwork, bricklayering and all that is happening here, it would be a great pleasure to me to pass on what I've learned to you.

  The main tasks are helping with cooking, on the land and in the large garden.
  
  The garden was planted recently, so that we all can enjoy its delicious seasonal fruit and vegetables. Taking care of the plants here would be a great help, as well as the care of existing young fruit trees and planting new ones. In autumn the vegetable garden can be prepared for the upcoming spring and herbes can be dried.
  
  If you enjoy cooking, that's wonderful and always welcome. We get fine local foods from the village shop and the weekly market and can help ourselves from the fruit and veggie garden. You can experiment, explore new recipes or bring in your preferences and recipes from home or from your travels.
  
  Then, all around the year, there's many outdoor work possibilities like removing weeds, pruning trees and bushes or woodwork, such as removing dead wood from the forest and process it into firewood. In addition, the 1.5 hectares of land are divided into 4 terraces, which are supported by 2 meter high walls. These formerly very beautiful natural stone walls have become heavily overgrown with grass and undergrowth over the years and now need to be cleared so that they can retain their stability. Then, if it's something you're interested in, you can lend a hand with the rustico renovation or learn something there.
  
  Something else that would be fun to do is be building a clay pizza oven together to enjoy pizza nights all together. Another autumn/winter project is to prepare space for the construction of a tipi in spring time.
  
  Your work here mainly depends on what you love to do, what experience you have and what passions you'd like to share, so we can individually find tasks for you that bring you joy!

  Someone helped me translate this text into English, as I almost don't have any English skills myself. I've just started to learn it with Duolingo so I hope you are patient with me until I can welcome English only speakers here. If you speak Italian, German or Spanish and English as a second language I would be happy if you could teach me some English!

  Alojamiento

  Your room is around 28m2 and is located on the south side of the rustico with a seperate entrance from outside. There, you have your own sink (with cold water only, but amazingly clear and light drinking water), your own compost toi (you're welcome to use the shared bathroom in the living space of course, this is just an extra), a very comfortable memory foam bed and space to deposit your belongings. There is no central heating yet but in your room you have your own wood stove which makes the room cozy and warm in a short time. The best part about the room is the view. It has big windows and you look all over the hills, the village and the castello. Wifi you have also, I prefer to turn it off at night though. Right now, in the workaway apartment there is space for one workawayer or a couple. A second, beautiful workaway room with its own bathroom will be ready around the beginning of 2025 so that more workawayers can be hosted.
  
  There is plenty of space in the garden for you to do whatever you want to be doing. Then there is the shared living area where we cook and eat together and if the weather allows it we can enjoy our meals outside. Then there is a shared bathroom with a warm shower. There's also a warm outdoor solar shower but that's something for the warmer months.
  
  We can either buy food together or you just tell me what you like. We can cook together or one can cook for the other(s). I really like cooking and improvising in the kitchen and I would be happy to show you the piemontese cuisine. At the same time, everybody's preferences and recipes from home are welcome! I'm looking forward to being and working together and here you also have your space to pursue what you like to do on your own.
