Descripción
We are a small family farm growing coffee and cocoa in the mountains of Lombok . During the months from May until September it is our coffee harvest. We are a traditional farm and we pick the coffee by hand and dry it in the sun. We roast the coffee using traditional methods. Many times we need help picking the fruits. We can make an exchange of providing simple room and board for helping us. You will learn our traditional methods of coffee farming, harvesting, and sun drying. We will teach you how to roast coffee using traditional methods handed down for generations. In your free time you can enjoy hiking to beautiful waterfalls and beautiful beaches and scenery. You will be living with us on the farm and will learn about our Balinese Hindu culture and foods.

Intercambio cultural y oportunidades de aprendizaje
High up in the hills beneath the infamous Mt.Rinjani lays the village of Selelos. A peaceful community of farmers that grow mostly coffee and cocoa, but also durian, cloves, bananas avocado and coconut trees. The community is as friendly as it is diverse. Our family as is many in the area made up of the Balinese Hindu culture which is traditional to Lombok through out as Lombok once was within the kingdom of Bali. Workayers will benefit by observing as well as experiencing the traditions , lifestyle and foods of this mountain culture. My American husband Brett, and I will guide and translate these experiences together with the workawayer as we welcome them into our family. Hand in hand with our family we will show them how we pick the red ripe Coffee cherrys and collect them to dry in the sun. Together, with our family, we will share our simple way of life so you can experience first hand the old traditional methods of coffee farming and Indonesian culture. You will learn about our cultural heritage , the way we process the coffee, traditional roasting methods, and simple way of life.
All n all, Workayers will have the opportunity to experience the diverse Island culture on Lombok Indonesia as they learn the traditional methods of the small family coffee farmer.

Ayuda
Persons who apply should be outgoing, athletic and be accepting of diverse cultures and traditions. Persons should be willing to live and help our elderly mother and father as we harvest our coffee beans . They are in their 70s and still work the farm together with Me, Eka , their daughter as well as other family when we have time. As this is a small family farm, we don't employ outside workers and pick the coffee ourselves. We also grow Cocoa, and Cloves too if you're willing to help with that too. The harvest season is usually from May to Oct/September. We are a small Balinese Hindu family and we invite you to join us during days of celebration or events.
