I had a wonderful time at the farm, there's so much to do and to see! I've learned a lot about beekeeping, helped with soil prep and laying pipes for the greenhouse... The view from the farm is lovely and there's a nice lonely beach nearby. Gerard and his family are wonderful people who will help you out with anything you need. Depending on the time you'll get there there might be other workers/ students around, I quite enjoyed that too.
Also we went for a speedboat tour with a friend of him, really amazing!!
You'll truly get to feel the New Foundland spirit. I wished I could have stayed for longer and would love to come back.

Elena and I staid at Gerard's farm for 7 weeks. We have to say that as our first workaway experience was awesome! We didn't know what to expect as it was our first time, but Gerard and his family were super welcoming and we didn't feel like outsiders. Even though he is a very busy man with a lot of things to do, he always had time to take us on
… read more tours, make sure we were happy, and his attitude towards us was always cheerful and kind. It is a lot of hard work, but very educational and fun; we enjoyed all of the activities as well as the lovely view that you have from the farm. We would definitely come back to visit or help again as now we are living an hour from there.Solo puedes ponerte en contacto con workawayers con membresías activas.

Josh and I had a great time at Gerard's amazing farm. We had only just arrived in Canada from Scotland, Gerard was lovely and hospitable from the very beginning. His farm is very interesting with a lot going on and to learn about. During our 3 week stay, Josh and I helped with weeding, planting, digging, fencing (living willow fence) and were

It was such a pleasure to be a part of life on the farm for a few days. Gerard knows his stuff when it comes to bee's & I only got a small insight into the full operation! We helped prepare land for planting quinoa and I had a day helping to erect fence posts to keep moose off the land. Gerard really looked after us & made sure we were ok amongst

On our last day, Gerard took us to Cape St Mary's ecological site, a 70,000 strong gannet colony which was the best way we could've spent our last few hours in Newfoundland. Thank you so much again for having us!Solo puedes ponerte en contacto con workawayers con membresías activas.

We had a wonderful time with Gerard and his family. We were put to work mostly clearing a field of rocks, getting the soil ready for planting quinoa. We worked about 9-5.30 for the few days we were there, and Gerard was super generous. We had a great place to sleep and he took us out to see the local gannet colony the day we left. It was a great

We really enjoyed meeting Nicole & Simone and after one week with us it felt like they were members of our family. Nicole & Simone were anxious to participate in any/all aspects of our farm operation and were open to learn new skills. They were the first to jump in and did more that their fair share of the "heavy lifting" and always had a smile

I would give Nicole & Simone my highest possible recommendation. and we are happy to speak to any potential Hosts and elaborate further on their stay with us.

We initially intended to stay for one month, but it became 6 weeks. We really loved it there!
The first period we worked a lot on the drying crop room in the barn. We didn't knew anything about carpentry, but we've learned a lot! Gerard also let us do package design for the beeswax candles he sells, which is a thing we really like doing. We also

When we were not helping out, Gerard took us out and showed us around. Or we played a trivia game with his family :)
Gerard and his family took really good care of us! They are like family now!Solo puedes ponerte en contacto con workawayers con membresías activas.

I stayed almost 2 weeks at the Family Farm and made friends for life. If I had more time, i would definitely have stayed longer. I felt so welcome in every situation and had a lot of fun with his family.
Even in this time of the year (December) there were many nice places to see around the Farm. Gerard took me and another workawayer out to some

During the time on the farm i learned a lot of useful things about planting and building living willow fences. Gerard taught me everything when I asked him about his farm, bees, yard... He is a really interesting and inspiring character.

The stay on the farm was one of the best time I had on my whole trip crossing the country. Gerard took always care about my stay and tried to make the stay as comfortable as possible. Though I was only able to stay with Gerard for a week (and a couple of weekend visits), I learned a great deal from him. He is always willing to answer questions and explains everything thoroughly (even if the conversation has nothing to do with the task at hand). I could not possibly squeeze everything I love about Gerard and what he is doing

I had the most amazing time on the farm! Gerard and his family are some of the nicest people you can ever hope to meet and I was sorry I didn't have more time to extend my stay.
I hadn't had any experience with bees before arriving in Newfoundland but Gerard was very patient in teaching me the ins and outs of a bee keeping business. You can
… read more learn a LOT from this guy! There is always something to do, so you definitely won't be bored, and the work isn't hard. I mainly helped him with general bee hive maintenance, grafting and installing of queens (how cool is that!?), berry picking and a little carpentry. He also runs introduction to beekeeping courses every now and again and mentors more inexperienced beekeepers, so I had the chance to accompany him when he went out to do inspections for some of his mentees.
Gerard and his family went out of their way to ensure I got as much out of the experience as possible, both in terms of learning new skills as well as getting an insight into the local history, culture and sightseeing opportunities. Oh, and the honey is divine! :-)
Thanks Gerard for a fantastic week and looking forward to catching up again soon! Solo puedes ponerte en contacto con workawayers con membresías activas.
