Ayuda
We currently have two seasonal positions available, both running roughly June through mid-September.
1. Housekeeping – Cottages & Facilities
This role focuses on preparing and maintaining our oceanfront cottages and shared guest areas. The work includes cleaning cottages between guest stays, maintaining common areas, laundry, and helping ensure the property is always welcoming and well presented. Attention to detail and a strong work ethic are important, as this role is essential to creating a great guest experience.
2. Front Office / Guest Services (with some housekeeping support)
This role is primarily focused on guest services. Responsibilities include welcoming guests, handling check-ins and reservations, answering questions about the area, and helping visitors make the most of their stay. During our busiest months—especially July and August—there is also an expectation that everyone helps out with cottage housekeeping when needed.
What We’re Looking For
We are a small team, so flexibility and a positive attitude are key. Ideal candidates are friendly, reliable, comfortable working independently, and happy to pitch in wherever needed. Previous hospitality, housekeeping, or customer service experience is helpful, but the most important qualities are a strong work ethic and a willingness to be part of the team.
Working at Alder Bay is a unique opportunity to spend a season living on the ocean, meeting travellers from around the world, and experiencing the wild beauty of Northern Vancouver Island.

Algo más...
Vancouver Island North is the gateway to a relaxed and spontaneous eco-adventure—the last stop in western Canada. Here, you can encounter incredible wildlife, including orcas, humpback whales, eagles, sea lions, and black bears while exploring breathtaking shorelines and vast stretches of untouched wilderness.
During your time off, there are many opportunities to experience the area. Popular activities include hiking coastal trails, kayaking, wildlife watching, fishing, photography, and visiting nearby communities such as Port McNeill, Telegraph Cove, and Port Hardy. Boat tours and whale-watching excursions are also available right from our dock, and the surrounding waters of the Broughton Archipelago are considered some of the best wildlife viewing areas on the coast.
Our location is peaceful and remote, which is part of what makes it special. Most staff arrive by bus to Port McNeill, and we can usually help coordinate a pickup from there. While having a vehicle is helpful for exploring more of the island, many helpers enjoy spending their free time simply relaxing by the ocean, exploring the shoreline, or connecting with other staff members.
Living and working here is a great chance to slow down, experience the beauty of Northern Vancouver Island, and enjoy a season immersed in nature.
