Descripción
Our place is 6000 acres of beautiful, natural native land at Springsure, Central Highlands Queensland. The main homestead is approximately 50 metres from the original cottage house where volunteers stay.
At the heart of everything here, are systems that promote land regeneration. Currently, there are cattle and free-range pigs on the farm and down the track there will be pure, non-tampered with fruits and vegetables. The focus is on using Natural Sequence Farming, time-controlled grazing and Joel Salatin's farming principles which mimic natural ecosystem processes. We do not sell any produce, the aim is to be merely self-sufficient while helping Mother Nature to regenerate.
The farm is open for volunteers to assist us by helping with activities such as gardening, with the animals, feeding the pigs and moving the chickens. Volunteers may also assist with some building and/or maintaining infrastructure, constructing leaky w eirs, fixing fences, gardening and general cleaning.
I hope that having volunteers visit where there will be a mutually beneficial experience. Volunteers will gain rewarding, hands-on experience, and I'll get a bit of help around the farm.
Comfortable accommodation in the original cottage house, which has 7 bedrooms, shower, toilet, laundry, outdoor kitchen and lounge room, is available. Linen, food, cutlery, crockery, cooking and cleaning needs are provided, with two separate outdoor verandahs to sit and enjoy the sunrise and sunset.

Approximately an hours drive away is the large country town of Emerald offering all your shopping needs with public transport, a domestic airport, as well as the large lake Maroon for fishing, swimming and park bbq's. I stayed 6 weeks and I would definitively like to stay longer if I had time. I had my own little apartment and a lot of good food. I worked with the cows, pigs, chicken, dogs and had my own little projects (veggie garden,...) where I could realize my ideas. I also had a great birthday with a… read more
