I am a single mom of 2 (13 and 6). We fulfilled our dream of relocating to Norrbotten 4 years ago. We are now renovating our houses slowly and setting up the gardens. Summer is short here and we have a lot to do. As i work full time, it can be challenging to find the balance between DIY, gardening, family time and work. I am looking for one person to help with the handy projects (mostly carpentery, but also wall papering, painting, ... ) and the garden. I do not expect the volunteer to be a professional carpenter, but knowledge of using basic tools and being a handy person able to work alone is required.

Pajala is a nice little town in Norrbotten, and depending on the season, one can see the northern lights or the midnight sun, go cross country skying or walk in the forest by the rendeirs, go to the pool or swim in the Torne river, hike Jupukka and warm up with some coffee and sausages on top... , but mostly, enjoy the peace and tranquility of this little town. We are walking distance to town, we have a river nearby and it is easy to go fishing. There is also i little sand beach and we can swin in the river. We often grill outside in summer and like to go hiking our only hill to grill upthere and enjoy the view.

Few projects on the go for the summer :
- removing the lawn and set in the stones (previously removed from another part ) on the driveway
- wallpapering the entrance hall, and finishing it (small details)
- mowing the lawn, taking care of the garden
- helping with the last part of the small green house
- making gardens bed and frames for the beans
- cutting wood, taking in the wood
There are a lot of ongoing project that we couldnt finish last year. So it would be mostly that.

Alojamiento
The small stuga in the garden has a single bed. We plan to drag cables to put electricity this summer. The volunteer has full acces to our house.
Food is provided, i cook mostly vegan but we can discuss it according to the volunteers preference/diet.

Easiest way is to get to Luleå and from there, a flight twice a day to Pajala is available.
Other wise, the bus from Luleå or Kiruna is an option too. It's about 2h30 to 3h30 from both airports.

I think Marie said everything that I could do during my stay whitin the first three minutes I was in her house. A bit overwhelming but it was okay. Every day I did different things, making soup, cleaning… read more

She has been so helpful in our everyday life, and in so many way. She can do it all : kids, building, painting, housework, ... She is very responsible and can take decisions on projects on her own on what to do.
We had some great time together and interesting discussions.
