Our association is a grass roots non-profit organization orginally founded in order to save the waterfalls, ecology and endagered species located in the Northern Andes right in the heart of the Amazon. We have expanded to encompass not just ecological tourism projects, but also agricultural and cultural tourism. We are in truth just a few people working for free to try to bring an alternative to resource exploitation and put control of resources in the hands of local people. For this reason we are not always on site and have built relationships of trust with local people over many years that largely run our projects. This is what also makes our projects unpredictable, different than most other non-profits, and truly 100% non exploitative and locally controlled.

The association wants no profit for the project and all the income will go directly to the villages. This gives those people living within this amazing ecological zone the chance to share the treasures of the nature that surrounds them while still remaining in firm control of the tourism that develops in their region.

Waterfalls Project: This project is on hold at present so not accepting volunteers.
The first and original project is to construct ecological trails to give access for several gigantic waterfalls. The highest (Yumbilla) is three times as high as the Eiffel tower standing 896 meters tall. Its bottom drop is a key site for bird watching and can be reached by two different villages, Cuispes and Porvenir. We need help in the trail building; laying stones, making rest stops, toilets and look out towers.
We have a separate project to a waterfall that is already well known within the district called Chinata. The community of San Carlos needs very similar help to the above mentioned project with maintaining trails and building rest stops.

Shipasbamba Project: This project is also on hold until we can get funding.
The second project we are currently taking on is one of agricultural tourism. This is centered in the village of Shipasbamba. With by far the friendliest people, you can learn to make dulce de huayaba (guava jelly), plant, harvest and roast coffee, help in local chakras (fields) that range from yucca to pitahayas (a really amazing fruit of the region!). . Many families would be willing to individually work out an agreement for living and food for help working in their fields. If field work is not your thing, they would also like some people to teach English.

    Jungle Project:
The third project and newest is not one for the faint hearted. This is our jungle expedition, in which we are working on cultural tourism. This includes showcasing local artesanship, gastronomy, and overall experiencing a different way of life. This program will be firmly based on the principle of equal cultural exchange and respect for one another. We will be taking our second expedition to the northwestern region of Condorcanqui, Peru in May of 2014. We have an organization donating a large efficient pontoon boat for the use of this zone. We would like to make the best route taking tourists between Ecuador and Peru. Hopefully we can build a tree top lodge half way along this 300 Km river system. Last year we spoke with several villages that expressed interest in cultivating tourism. Our presence sparked a discussion among a few of these communities for the past year and many are asking us to return to discuss details. We are looking for innovative, creative, and brave people who would be willing to join us in this undoubtedly crazy adventure. We will be conversing with the leaders of each village about how they would like tourism to work,. This will not require physical labor but will require some guts, as the jungle is an unpredictable. Cultural sensitivity and openness to different kinds of food and living conditions necessary. We can only accept a small number of volunteers so a longer application process required.

There is a separate suggested packing list for each project. You are more than welcome to apply for more than one. As we are just a few people, we are always looking for potential members of our organization in our volunteers and ask that if you are interested in becoming a part of our association to express interest while or after volunteering.

We look forward to hearing from you!
