  Hello! We’re Jesús and Teresa, a Spanish-German couple living on our 20-hectare finca in the beautiful hills of Aracena Nature Park in Andalusia, just 9 Km away from the Portuguese border. Our home includes our 8 dogs, 2 donkeys, and a small flock of chickens (always under 20). We live 100% off grid in the middle of nowhere and are surrounded by amazing olive trees and old oaks. We raise our own chickens and butcher them once in a while, make our own olive oil, soap and bread and are working on becoming as self-sufficient as we can achieve in our circumstances and with our means. For this we've planted over a hundred trees, including fruits, berries, nuts, and almonds, and build a vegetable garden which we are trying to maintain all year round with different crops. We also are planning to plant more olive trees soon, as the olive oil production is really something we are passionate about.

  Chance to learn spanish, and german, learn about olive oil producing, the challenges of off-grid living and get to know the andalusian lifestyle while visiting the area.

  Depending on what you like and the season, you can choose from various tasks like pruning, weed grubbing, maintaining tools, repairing fences, chopping firewood, clearing the riverbank and around the trees, and getting involved with olive harvesting and oil making. If you have experience with donkeys, we would love to learn more about training and hoof trimming!

  Alojamiento

  You’ll be staying in our cozy, fully-equipped guest cottage on a hill with amazing views of the surrounding area. Hot and cold water, induction hobs, microwave oven, fridge, woodstove, etc. Please note that the guesthouse is self-catering, meaning you will need to bring your own food and cook your own meals. However there will always be some basic essentials for you in the pantry in case you need something.

  While our finca is absolutely beautiful, it might not be for everyone. It’s ideal for independent individuales or couples who appreciate privacy and solitude and don’t need constant supervision. The guesthouse is located in a separately fenced area of the finca, while we live just down the hill by the river, always available should you need anything. Our finca is about an hour's walk from the local village of Encinasola. Given our remote location, having your own vehicle would be highly convenient, but we can also arrange to pick you up at the bus station in a small town 23 km away.
