Tilen was our 2nd workawayer and stayed with us for about 3 weeks. At that time, our main project was to renew our barn’s intermediate floor and Tilen was an essential help here. He took over tasks like oiling the beams and planing the planks. Apart from that, he helped us with some projects in the garden (preparing a stone wall and some paths)
… read more and levelling the ground in another little barn as a preparation for renewing its floor.
Tilen was very flexible so that we could plan some common work sessions in our time off work which was very helpful to get things done together – so there were quite a few common wood planing sessions in the evening. Also, Tilen did not shy from less popular tasks (thanks for cleaning the windows!) and he was very open to learning new things.
Apart from all the work we could get done together, we very much appreciated the time spent tpgether during meals, for a spontaneous afternoon tea or the one or other shared bottle of wine in the evenings. We liked his kindness, ability to listen, the interesting stories he shared and appreciated inspiring conversations. We not only learned a lot about Slowenia (including a local dish from there Tilen cooked for us) but also about quite a few other places in the world. Altogether, we were very happy to have met you, Tilen and would call you rather a new friend than a former workawayer :-)

I had the pleasure of staying with Barbara and Felix in Heidelsheim for a bit over three weeks last November (apologies for writing feedback a bit late), and it was a really wonderful experience! During my stay, I had the opportunity to learn some valuable carpentry skills: I helped Felix with a wood planer, we set up the barn beam together, I

It was really quite exciting for me and Felix was incredibly helpful and patient with teaching me how to work with some of the tools; I'm very grateful for that! I also helped out with some gardening tasks, painted the wooden beams in the barn, and even leveled the former chicken coop. There was always something to do, and I really appreciated the variety of tasks, which kept things interesting, as well as the trust and responsibility I was given. I think we developed a great rapport and I'd love to visit again!
One of the highlights of my stay was the time spent together — we often shared meals that turned into super engaging conversations about life, society, and the world — from physics and philosophy to East Germany and the environmental crisis. After an evening session of wood planing, a cold beer with Felix was truly a delight! :) AND Barbara's homemade Käsespätzle was absolutely delicious! I also loved the cozy atmosphere created by their firewood stove. The grilling session in the garden was also amazing: we lit up candles in the old barn while sipping delicious mulled wine! I imagine, now that the spring and summer are on their way, the garden is going to be even more beautiful in the evenings!
I also appreciated having plenty of free time to explore the nearby forests and manage my remote mini-job in Heidelberg (had to visit once a week), and this balance between work, socializing, and free time was ideal!
I'm very grateful to have had the chance to get to know Barbara and Felix and their children — they are kind, generous and welcoming people. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone wishing to learn about gardening and handiwork or to visit some nearby cities (Heidelberg, Karlsruhe) or cool local attractions, such as Maulbronn Kloster or Faust's hometown. Thank you Barbara and Felix and I hope to see you soon! :)

Victoria was interested in staying with us. We answered her request soon and offered her a stay. Unfortunately, she then didn't let us know anymore if she is going to come or not. Our understanding of this platform is good communication, mutual respect and reliability. Of course, plans can change which is totally fine, but dropping a line
… read more informing us is something we would expect as we also invested time and effort (and at the end of the day, could not arrange a stay with the other person interested). So, just as a personal feedback, a better communication and information on what your plans are (as we will also adjust our plans accordingly) would leave a better impression with us.

Gyula was the first workawayer that we hosted after we found this platform. We were a bit insecure on how it works but had a great first experience with him!
He showed up as arranged and was friendly and open from the beginning. The tasks we asked him to do involved gardening (removing some bushed and invasive plants), digging for the installation
… read more of a water tank and for adding a pillar to our barn construction, watering our plants and some other points and he fulfilled them just as we asked him for.
Gyula shared some interesting stories with us and we appreciated the insights into his lifestyle and the workaway game. The guest room and bathroom were left very tidy and clean. We thank Gyula, would be happy to host him again and do not hesitate to recommend him to other hosts!

I stayed with Barbara and Felix for a week and helped them with gardening, preparing the installation of a beam in the barn, and also transferring and installing a water tank. I was warmly welcomed in their home, and they ensured I didn't lack anything during my stay. They live in a small village 10mins train ride from Bruchsal, where I could

Barbara was away on a business trip during my stay, so I spent the week with Felix and the kids, including Moritz, his oldest son, who was visiting them. I enjoyed our conversations with Felix during breakfast and after work, and once Barbara returned, we had a barbecue on my last evening. They are a nice, relaxed, educated couple with plenty of stories to share. I'm grateful for their top-notch hospitality and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to other helpers.Solo puedes ponerte en contacto con workawayers con membresías activas.
