We are a horse , crop and olive farm in the Central Drakensberg of South Africa. We organize also overnight hiking trails in the mountains. Looking for volunteers to help with the outrides , grooming and all the activities around the horses .
We started an olive orchard and if you are interested you can help there too.
We are establishing a birding trail which you could help maintaining if you are not a horse rider.
We help sometimes with Ezemvelo, in the national park, removing alien plants, repairing trails,....
There is a small cheese factory on the farm, a vegetable garden, wood fired oven to make pizza,....,....
We have horse trails on a daily basis. There are around 20 horses of different breeds, Basutho, Australian stock horses Boerperd, Percherons, Arabs,....
We have 3 young horses who need to be trained for riding and farm work.
Minimum stay is one month. You can stay in a cosy garden house with shower, bathroom and toilet . We will provide free board and lodging. Meals will be shared with the hosts.
There is limited WIFI and internet available.
The farm is bordering the Ukhalamba World Heritage site and quite remote.
You must be sporty, love horses, animals and nature…..
There will be plenty of time and opportunity for horse riding overnight hiking and other activities if you stay for longer periods.
Our guests speak mostly English, so you must be able to communicate with them, but we speak also French, Dutch, German and some Spanish.
We will pick you up at a Baz Bus drop of or help you organize transport to the farm.
Contact me if you are interested or need more info..

She helped with the outrides, grooming the horses and making our fire breaks, which is a quite stressful job.
She has also knowledge about beekeeping.
In all a very easy going and hardworking volunteer.
I can highly recommend her.
Good luck on your further travels...
I didn't see them much, had only a week to teach them all the work and routine to do.
It al went well and the farm was handed back over like I left it.
They are hard working and able to take own initiative when problems arise .
I can highly recommend them.
Thanks Jana… read more
