Hi! My name is Jay and I am a 38 year old woman from Nova Scotia, Canada. I live in a cabin on the North Shore of the Cabot trail, Cape Breton Island. I own and operate three cabins, run a traditional archery range, and host annual foraging / educational events around plants and fungi on the Cabot Trail all summer long.
I am looking for someone who has experience in housekeeping or cleaning. I can teach someone a lot if they have some experience to go off of. The rest of the work is outdoors: setting up archery, mowing, snipping, trail work, and help with special events.
I’m also looking for someone who has their own vehicle due to my remote location.
It is just myself and my two cats on 28 acres of waterfront property. I am really into foraging plants and fungi, cooking, archery and hiking. I have quite a bit of experience with work trades and woofers here in Cape Breton and other parts of Nova Scotia. I myself have been a woofer. I have worked with people from France, Germany, New Zealand, England and many places across the US and Canada. I truly enjoy helping people see the island, sharing my land, and pointing people toward the best experiences they can have.Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

The biggest benefit of living here temporarily is being on the world famous Cabot trail, working a little, relaxing, exploring what Cape Breton Island has to offer during its most beautiful months. You will be enjoying 28 acres of wilderness property, learning traditional archery, and being part of a tourism operation that hosts events and activities all centered around being outdoors. It's peaceful! If you like working independently in nature, this is a great place to be.

This is a building with wifi, power, water, laundry, sitting area and office space. You can have 24 hour access to this space.

Close the Cape Breton Highlands National Park, beaches, hiking, etc. I will definitely make sure you have a good time! My last Workaway person learned a lot about foraging and went with me weekly to collect plants and mushrooms!

Jay offers a small trapper cabin for accommodations. It was the perfect size and had everything I needed: a fridge, hot plate, toaster oven, essential kitchenware, and a twin bed. The cabin… read more
The work load was ideal, Jay would always check to make sure I was okay with it and was very flexible with hours so that I could also see as much of the island as possible.
I did lots of swimming,… read more
