  Welcome to our School in Arusha, Tanzania
  
  We registered since 2019 and we have had the opportunity to host different volunteers from different parts of the world.We cordially welcome volunteers from all over the world to join our project and help us to improve.
  
  Our mission is to support especially underprivileged children and orphans from vulnerable environment. The main goal is to provide a high quality education and enable thereby the chance of equal treatment and a decent future.
  
  The founder of the school was a teacher by profession and later on worked as the Chief Accountant in a Tour Company based in Arusha. After working in this company for more than 25 years, he founded the school in 2012 and returned to teaching. He wanted the school to be a safe place where children get the chance to build a foundation for their future.May his beautiful soul rest in peace as his legacy lives on🙏.
  
  Today the school is run by the descendants of the founder. Upendo is the first born and acts as the administrator of the estate working hand in hand with her siblings Happy and Sarah. Apart from them, ten more teachers take care of the pupils. At the moment 156 children are enrolled in the school. Among them are 48 non-paying students some being orphans and others being children from vulnerable families, these students are fully sponsored for education by the school while the remaining number of students are children who pay a low school fee to support parents with a low income and enable them to enroll their kids in a school with a better education. A few among the 48 non paying students have been lucky to get sponsors from other parts of the world as we are still looking for sponsorship of the rest whereby the sponsorship payment will enable school operations.
  
  Currently, all of the classrooms are used for the nursery and primary school which is up to year seven with children from the age of 3 to 12 years. The Nursery wing has three classes being baby class,middle class and pre unit class while primary wing has year one to year seven classes.
  
  We are happy to welcome volunteers at our project, who want to help us in our day to day life in school. We'd like to introduce you to our culture, food and language and show you why we work so passionately for this project. At the same time we'd love to get to know your way of living and your ideas and improvements for the project.
  
  
  ARUSHA AND WHAT TO DO:
  Arusha is a city in north eastern Tanzania. It has approximately 535,000 inhabitants and is located at the foot of Mount Meru. Since the city is located in the foreland of mount Kilimanjaro, the climate is all year round moderate and humid. Arusha is close to several National Parks like Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Many safari operators leave here for the breathtaking national parks, which is why it is perfect for a trip on the weekend. Apart from that, there are the Arusha Waterfalls, Lake Duluti, the Masaai Market, the Meserani Snake Park and many other things to do. We are happy to assist you in planning your activities here in Arusha.
  
  COSTS:
  Please be aware that we can't bare the costs for flights, visas or transportation to and from our place. We provide however accomodation and food for all volunteers. The daily transport to and from the school is covered by the volunteers (2400 TSH per day). We are happy to pick you up at the Kilimanjaro International Airport, Arusha Airport or the bus station in Arusha. As mentioned before, the costs for the pickup are covered by the volunteers according to the following list:
  
  KILIMANJARO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT:
  It depends on your arrival time whether it is possible to take a shuttle or taxi.
  40 000 TSH for shuttle
  130 000 TSH for taxi
  
  ARUSHA AIRPORT:
  60 000 TSH for taxi
  
  BUS STATION IN ARUSHA:
  30 000 TSH for taxi
  
  SAFETY:
  Your safety and security during your stay at our project are very important to us. You can be sure to be in a secure home and feel safe. We'll also watch out for your belongings like laptops, cameras, mobile phones, money or clothes.
  
  
  RISK:
  We already have a good experience in being a host and made a lot of good experiences so far. However, there are some habits like drinking, smoking, drug abuse etc. that we can not tolerate in our organisation. We expect, that you respect these rules during your stay. Apart from this we recommend you to get a health insurance for the duration of your stay.
  
  
  We believe that volunteering is a great possibility for all of us to learn and improve.

  We really would love to teach you how to cook some Tanzanian meals and introduce you to our way of living and speaking. We can help you learn a little bit Swahili!
  Of course we'd also like to get to know culture and lifestyle, so feel free to teach us how to cook your favourite meals or how to speak your language.
  The children are the stars of the show here! You will be amazed at how well you can communicate with them. They start learning English at a very young age, which is why they love to talk to volunteers, show off their English in school and learn further.

  Ayuda

  The main activity for volunteers in our school is to assist in teaching the pupils. Since all subjects are taught in English, foreigners are of great value for the improvement of the language skills. Apart from that you are welcome to draw pictures on the school walls, play games with the kids or realize your own ideas. The working hours are connected to the timetable of the school, which starts at 8:00 am and ends at 1:00 pm. Breakfast and lunch are eaten at school together with the pupils. We appreciate it when you offer your own skills and abilities to improve our project and move forward.

  Alojamiento

  We accomodate our volunteers in private homes. We always provide a bed with a mosquito net, access to electricity and most of the times even an own room. Just sometimes, when we have a lot of volunteers at the same time, we ask you to share a room. Since there are mosquitoes in Arusha we advise you to take Malaria prophylaxis. Unfortunately, we can't provide a wifi connection, but you can easily buy a sim card and get a mobile connection to the internet.
  
  Since you will participate in our day to day life, we'll cook our normal food and introduce you to our culture. The food usually depends on the season and originates from the Arusha region. When you have any special dietary requirements, just feel free to tell us, so that we can consider this during your stay (vegetarian, vegan, Muslims avoiding pork, etc.). Please also let us know when you feel hungry, so that we can offer some snacks to you (sometimes the day is so busy that we are late for dinner).

  When you want to join our organization it is really important that you have a visa. You can volunteer with Tourist visa but while applying for it you can specify that you will be volunteering.This visa could be applied for online but you could also get it at the airport. Its validity is three months and costs 100 US Dollar for United States citizens and 50 US Dollar for other nationals. If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask!

(Todo anfitriones que haya declarado algún cargo estará claramente marcado en su listado).
