My partner and I own a house on a quarter acre section in the small historic town of Blackball on the West Coast of the South Island, NZ. My teenage grandson lives with us as well.

We are trying to create a semi self sufficient lifestyle for our retirement. We have a lot packed into our section with fruit trees, berries and vege gardens. We have a lot of projects on the go including installing a water system for all the plants, a large berry house, renovating a caravan for guest, building a man shed, building a drying room and renovating the house.

I am an artist with many talents including Silver smithing, stone carving and anything to do with Fibre. I love gardening and watching nature.

My partner works away from home. His main focus is to get us mortgage free sooner rather than later.

My grandson is at high school and his interests include gaming and going to the gym.

We also have 5 rabbits, 3 cats and 2 guinnea pigs.

The West Coast has a rich history of coal and gold mining, It is scattered with small towns the each have their own stories to tell.

To the east is the Southern Alps and the ski fields, to the west the Pacific Ocean with pebble beaches and great surfing in between is stunning rain forests, glaciers and rivers with stunning walking/cycling tracks.

The West Coast is the largest province in NZ with the smallest population.

It's a step back in time although technology is creeping in.

Ideally I am looking for persons with DIY skills, that are good with problem solving, thinking outside the square and can give anything a go. That don't mind getting wet or dirty.
