I am Ulla, a 41-year-old woman who decided a few years ago to realize her childhood dream of moving to the country and keeping animals. I am a social hermit who loves to be surrounded by people but also needs time to be alone and silence to recover. I love moving and moving people, nature, animals, and adventures and trips that I rarely get to do these days. I get excited about new things easily and I could study all the time. I like crafts, music, physical work and just dreaming and admiring the stars and landscapes. I could also call myself spiritual. Today, we live In a house, where my grandparents lived 1960-1992, with my 12-year-old girl, and a herd of 35 animals in the beautiful landscapes of North Kuusamo, close to the popular hiking trail, the Little Bear Tour. Our small family farm, located on the slopes of Säkkilänvaara, has a two-storey house built in 1960, of which only the Ground Floor is used during the winter. In addition to the house, in the courtyard you will find an old barn building, a gazebo by the fireplace and a tractor garage, which is now inhabited by sheep. In the field, at the highest point of the farm, there is a private shed, where you can also stay overnight or just watch the fire blaze by the campfire and fry sausages, for example. There are about 1.5 hectares of private field and the distance to the lake is about 200m. In summer on the lake use a rowing boat, in winter possible ice fishing or net fishing. The farm's courtyard and field offer beautiful lake and hill views. In winter, the lights of Ruka shine a little even for us, but the most delightful are the bright starry sky or the northern lights blazing in the sky. The farm is inhabited by donkeys, goats, sheep, roster, chickens, rabbits, cats and a dog. The animals are run on a very small scale by the side-by-side company Säkkilänvaara Eläintila, which offers donkey trips and hikes in the surrounding terrain, as well as nature and sports services. Due to our great location, there are plenty of activities around us for those who love nature and exercise. Close to hiking trails, waterfall, rapids, cave, fishing places, Kitkajoki, Ruka downhill and tourist center, Oulanka National Park, etc. There is a lot to do and experience for your time, both in summer and winter.
Olen Ulla, 41-vuotias nainen, joka päätti muutama vuosi sitten toteuttaa lapsuuden haaveensa maalle muutosta ja eläinten pidosta. Olen sosiaalinen erakko, joka rakastaa olla ihmisten ympäröimänä, mutta tarvitsee vastapainoksi myös aikaa olla yksin ja hiljaisuutta palautuakseen. Rakastan liikkumista ja ihmisten liikuttamista, luontoa, eläimiä sekä seikkailuja ja reissuja, joita pääsen tekemään nykyään liian harvoin. Innostun helposti uusista asioista ja voisin opiskella koko ajan. Tykkään käsitöistä, musiikista, fyysisestä työstä ja ihan vain haaveilusta ja tähtien ja maisemien ihailusta. Voisin kutsua itseäni myös henkiseksi.
Asutamme nykyään vanhaa mummolaani 12 vuotiaan tyttöni ja 35 päisen eläinlauman kanssa Pohjois-Kuusamon kauniissa vaaramaisemissa, lähellä suosittua retkeilyreittiä, Pientä Karhunkierrosta.
Pienellä tilallamme, joka sijaitsee Säkkilänvaaran rinteellä, on kaksikerroksinen vuonna 1960 rakennettu talo, josta talviaikaan käytössä on vain alakerta. Talon lisäksi pihapiiristä löytyy vanha navettarakennus, huvimaja tulipaikalla sekä traktoritalli, jota asuttaa nykyään lampaat. Pellolla, tilan korkeimmalla kohdalla sijaitsee oma laavu, missä voi myös halutessaan yöpyä tai vain vaikka katsella tulen loimua nuotiossa ja paistaa esim. makkaraa. Omaa peltoa on ympärillä noin 1,5hehtaaria ja järvelle on matkaa n. 200m. Kesällä järvellä käytössä soutuvene, talvella mahdollista pilkkiä tai verkkokalastaa.
Tilan pihalta ja pellolta avautuu kauniit järvi ja vaaramaisemat. Talvella Rukan valot loistavat hiukan meillekkin asti, mutta ihastuttavinta on kirkas tähtitaivas tai taivaalla loimuavat revontulet.
Tilalla asustaa aaseja, vuohia, lampaita, kukko, kanoja, kaneja, kissoja, koira ja hamsteri.
Eläinten kanssa pyöritetään hyvin pienimuotoisesti sivutoimista yritystä Säkkilänvaaran Eläintilaa, joka tarjoaa aasiretkiä ja vaelluksia lähi maastoissa, sekä luonto ja liikuntapalveluja.
Loistavan sijaintimme vuoksi, ympäriltämme löytyy paljon aktiviteetteja luontoa ja liikuntaa rakastaville. Lähellä vaellusreittejä, vesiputous, koskia, luola, kalastuspaikkoja, Kitkajoki, Rukan laskettelu ja matkailukeskus, Oulangan kansallispuisto ym. Tekemistä ja koettavaa löytyy omalle ajalle paljon niin kesällä kuin talvellakin.

Maybe animals will teach you too. Admire the clear starry sky, watch the northern lights dance in the sky, breathe in the fresh air, enjoy the silence and our invigorating field. Many have said that the view from our field is breathtakingly magnificent and there is something very magical, soothing and grounding about the place. That is why I call it an empowering field.

Meillä tilalla pääset kokemaan meidän perheen normaalia elämää töineen, kouluineen ja vastuunein. Pääset kokemaan millaista on eläintilan arki ja työ, mutta myös juhla. Pääset opettamaan eläimiä erilaisiin tehtäviin
ja hoitotoimenpiteisiin. Ehkä eläimet opettavat myös sinua.
Saat ihastella kirkasta tähtitaivasta, katsoa revontulien tanssia taivaalla, hengittää puhdasta ilmaa, nauttia hiljaisuudesta ja meidän voimauttavasta pellosta. Moni on sanonut, että näky meidän pellolta on henkeä salpaavan upea ja paikassa on jotain hyvin maagista, rauhoittavaa ja maadoittavaa. Siksi kutsunkin sitä voimauttavaksi pelloksi.

We offer a wide range of tasks throughout the year: - Caring for and feeding animals - Cleaning and renovating the premises - Do-it-yourself projects and DIY -Yard (snow in winter, garden construction, haymaking, etc. in summer)- Firewood making - Heating the house with trees - Housekeeping - Cooking, baking - Help with internet and computer at work - Living with a teenage girl and learning English skills - Fishing, picking berries and collecting, processing and making products Main focus on animal care, cleaning and renovation of farms and yard tasks. Help is physical, so vigor, the right attitude and good physical condition are important.

We stay in our family home either in our own or in a shared room with another workawayers, where both have their own beds. All share a toilet, bathroom, sauna, kitchen and living room. During the winter occupied only the ground floor of the house, because the upper floor uninsulated space. Downstairs consists of 2 bedrooms, kitchen, hallway, toilet, living room with fireplace, sauna and bathroom. In summer, more space will be available when the upstairs 2 bedrooms become available. We mainly eat traditional home-cooked food, which includes fish, chicken, meat, vegetables, eggs. Some of the food we get from our own farm animals, such as eggs, is the fish we fish ourselves sometimes. Your accommodation includes a daily breakfast, one hot meal and an evening meal.
Meillä yövyt meidän perheen kodissa joko omassa tai jaetussa huoneessa toisen workawayersin kanssa, missä molemmille omat sängyt.
Kaikkien käytössä yhteisesti wc, kylpyhuone, sauna, keittiö ja olohuone.
Talvi aikaan käytössä vain talon alakerta,koska yläkerta eristämätöntä tilaa.
Alakertaan kuuluu 2 makuuhuonetta, keittiö, eteiset, wc, takkahuone, sauna ja kylpyhuone.
Kesällä tilaa käytössä enemmän, kun yläkerran 2 makuuhuonetta saadaan käyttöön.
Meillä syödään pääosin perinteisiä kotiruokia, joihin sisältyy kalaa, kanaa, lihaa, kasviksia, munia. Osan ruoista saamme oman tilan eläimiltä, kuten kananmunat, kalaa kalastamme välillä itse.
Majoitukseesi kuuluu joka päivä aamupala, yksi lämmin ruoka ja iltapala.

Kuusamoa on sanottu Suomen luontopääkaupungiksi. Meillä on upea monimuotoinen luonto, kasvit ja eläimet ja neljä selvää eri vuodenaikaa. Ihanteellinen paikka käydä kokemassa ja näkemässä.
