IMPORTANT:
Due to the current circumstances relating to the Co-vid19 virus and government regulations, our program is cancelled until May 1st, and we will not be accepting any workawayers until at least June. This is also all dependent on how the situation progresses, and we will update our information in late April regarding the summer months.
Thank you for understanding and we hope we can host you again in the future!
*Tessa*
We are an organisation that runs art and cultural related events at 2 venues in a National Park in rural north-east Germany. We are known as a cutting edge performance venue and for mixing ecology with art and community.
Our first venue is an artist community and a movement workshop centre. We have many international guests that come to study and create with us. We host them, cook with them, run a garden with them and organize the community. This is where you will be based.
Our second venue hosts artists and makers working more within the fine-arts and design sector. It is a former concrete factory with a post-apocalyptic vibe. The living style is communal and the work happening there involves painting, organising, construction, decorating and cleaning. It is located a 15 minute bike ride away in the next village, along the beautiful canal OR a 10 minute drive away when the weather is bad for biking. While volunteers do not usually sleep here, some of our long term team members do and we occasionally go over there to help with the work!Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

Intercambio cultural y oportunidades de aprendizaje
You will be involved in a very creative lifestyle. If you are interested in culture, people and sustainable international communities you will learn a lot about each of those aspects. Participants in our program come from many different cultures. Since this place operates as an artist- community we cook, eat, work and dance together-you will have many opportunities to learn from people with different cultural backgrounds and get to know contemporary art from different nations.
You will work with our core team, 10 people who run the place with the help of volunteers. You might also be able to participate in certain workshops during the summer. There are lots of opportunities to learn, share, and create, and we always appreciate when volunteers bring their own skills, interests, creativity and desires to the table.
*️️*️️*️️LGBTQIA+ friendly place!!!Ayuda
The work we do around here is varied. We will give preference to those who are available to come for 2 or more weeks. We prefer to get to know you (and you get to know us!) before committing to hosting a workawayer for longer than 1 month, but it is an option that we can discuss :)
*️️️️️️️️️️️️
Specific time periods we are looking for helpers:
17.03.2020 - 26.04.2020
26.05.2020 - 25.07.2020
24.08.2020 - 13.09.2020
The last part of the year is still being organised but we will also be looking for workawayers during this time :)
See below a description of the different seasons:
FOR THE WINTER MONTHS (February-March):
We are looking for 2-3 people who will stay at our first venue. We hope to find some friendly people who can:
-help out around the house, keeping it tidy and warm and inviting in the winter, help with some cleaning and laundry, as well as getting involved in some outdoor work, painting, diy construction and decorating, with an aim to improve some spaces in the house during the quieter months.
-The house is much quieter at this time of year, therefore if you are looking for a social and bustling atmosphere, perhaps look at the summer months. If you enjoy sitting by the fire sharing food, games and stories with a small group of people, working on your own projects (such as drawing/photography, writing), or going for long winter walks, then this time would be great for you!
DURING WINTER:
It is cold! Please bring your sleeping bag (and we have extra bedding), warm clothing, extra layers, scarf, hat and gloves. ORGANIC toiletries only (we can provide if this is difficult), a torch, and/or bike light is helpful, and wet weather gear + good shoes.
*
FOR THE WARMER/BUSY SEASON (April-October)
If you would like to come in the warmer/summer months – this is the busiest and most exciting time of year for our artist/workshop centre. We are looking for a team of 3-4 helpers per month who can work together and help out myself (Tessa) and the rest of our team with the following types of activities:
-You can help out in the garden and in the food production, you can help prepare artistic salad sculptures and help with other daily house tasks too, such as laundry, basic cleaning and organising, and decorating.
-You can can get involved with running local events such as movie nights, concerts and performances. We also sometimes need help around the stage, helping performers do lights and sound and stage design.
-There are always building, maintenance and painting projects, however in the busy season we have less time to teach from start to finish - if you have a few basic skills already, or can work quite autonomously, we can more likely set you up with something like this!
-There are also opportunities to start creative ventures, joining in on some workshops when possible, and creating your own if interested. The possibilities are endless here and your input is most welcome :)
DURING SUMMER:
Please bring a sleeping bag! Other things that come in handy include a torched/or bike light, mosquito repellent, sunscreen, ORGANIC toiletries only (we can provide if this is difficult), swimwear, good shoes, towel, warm clothing, rain gear, cash (we have a bar that is cash only).
Please note that sleeping is in a 4 person dorm in an outdoor shack from May-September. If you prefer privacy we recommend bringing a tent (we have a couple of spares).
It is helpful to know that this place can sometimes have many people coming and going. Although there are opportunities to escape the atmosphere, it is important to have some tolerance with large groups of people and stressful situations.

Please note we cannot provide a private room for you.
When coming in the summer you must be prepared to sleep in a tent, or in an outdoor shack set up in a dorm style. If you need your own private room, this is unfortunately something we cannot offer in the summer.
In the winter you will be provided with a heatable room (usually shared with other volunteers). At times if we have a big booking, it is important to be flexible and move rooms to accommodate what the guests have asked for. When no one is staying here the accommodation is relaxed and how you wish.
Food is included, from either our cooks during peak season, or cooking communally with the other volunteers.
We have 3 cats and between 1-3 dogs around the place. They are not in the rooms where you sleep, and hang out mostly outdoors, and sometimes in the main house.Algo más...
There are bicycles for your use to visit the local lakes and swimming holes. There are beautiful walks in the woods and areas to visit close by. Our location, having been in GDR times and close to the Polish border, has very interesting buildings and history to learn about.
