Descripción
We are restoring a native forest and wetland in Paradise, New Zealand, surrounded by the Southern Alps. During the past twenty-one years we have planted 66,419 native trees and continue to expand and care for this remarkable landscape. Work varies with the season and includes tree planting, weed control, maintaining young forests, and general property tasks. Comfortable accommodation is provided in a spectacular alpine setting. We welcome fit, enthusiastic people with a genuine interest in ecological restoration and the natural world.
The property lies in Paradise at the head of Lake Wakatipu, surrounded by mountains, rivers, wetlands, and native bush. Living here means experiencing one of New Zealand's most spectacular landscapes while contributing to something intended to endure for generations.
The entire property is under a Queen Elizabeth II conservation covenant and the reforestation project is not for profit. -

Ayuda
This is a long-term ecological restoration project rather than a traditional farm or garden. Every season brings different priorities. Sometimes we are planting thousands of native trees. At other times we are releasing young trees from competing vegetation, maintaining earlier plantings, weed control, restoring wetlands, improving habitat, or tackling the many practical tasks that keep a large restoration project moving forward. Not every task is glamorous, but every task contributes to the health of the forest.
The project suits people who enjoy working outdoors, appreciate wild places, and are happy living in a remote alpine environment. We value curiosity, initiative, reliability, and a genuine interest in conservation. Whether your background is in ecology, botany, forestry, environmental science, or you simply want to learn by doing, we welcome people who are excited by the opportunity to help restore a native ecosystem.
Expect alpine conditions: beautiful calm days, periods of rain and wind, and occasional snowfall. Good rain gear, sturdy work boots, warm clothing, and a sense of adventure are essential. -
