My husband grew up in this area with a long family history of ranching, our chosen life style being very different than that of ranching we have found another way to create income from the family land- hosting guests in glamping tents and living in slow culture. We have a back ground in hospitality and have decided to host others on this beautiful land. Giving them a ranch style experience that is rooted in preservation. In converting the ranch land to glamping stays we are able to start reversing the devastation of decades of grazing. Instead of depleting our water shed we are returning all useable water back into the ground through grey water systems. In the future our gardens will help feed our guests as we close the loop in the food circle. Our goal is to provide an amazing, caring, and mindful experience than almost anyone can afford!

Learning the in's and outs of living in a very rural area- read slow culture... with limited (external) resources teaches resilience, promotes problem solving skills, develops ingenuity, encouages self refection and builds self esteem. Taking part in hospitality you learn about other cultures, time managment, diffrent forms of communication , marketing and you get an eye for detail. You may also choose to learn about water preservation, homesteading, grey water systems, farm life, and alternative living situations. (We have a yurt, an outfitted school bus, tents, a cabin and a tiny home all on property)

We look forward to meeting you!

We are looking for an amazing individual or couple that would like to live in slow culture.
Slow culture is defined as a way to live a life that emphasizes connection (especially to nature), intentionality (of action) and giving space to exist at a slower pace.

This experience includes having your own private FREE residence. A Yurt!- one bedroom, one bathroom with all the basics (while maybe somewhat quirky): Stove, Refrigerator, Microwave, TV, Mini Split, Bed, Futon couch, flushing toilet, hot and cold water and a stocked kitchen! (We like to ensure all are well fed!) In addition we like to make sure all your basic necessitiesare there- Shampoo, Conditioner, Lotion (its dry out here), soap, Toilet paper, ect. We built this residence when we first returned to the ranch and served as our home for 8 years.

In exchange we are looking for this individual/couple to clean our rentals (@3), feed and water our chickens (15 in total), collect eggs, and fill a water trough... Read all the eggs you could ever want and more (this takes about 7-10 minutes daily )!! Cleaning's are paid per unit- per cleaning. We have two small units (cleanings take 1-2 hrs each) and one large unit (takes 1-3 hrs to clean). This is a great way to learn about the hospitality business and maybe meet some pretty cool folks from around the world. Rentals/cleanings can be tailored to help meet your needs as well as desired work load. We believe in fair wages and pay far exceeds minium wage for all. This can be as little as 2 hours a day a few days a week up to 5 hours a day several times a week. We work with you so you can find your rhythm and comfort level. We perfer to keep the work load to 5hrs or less a day- to allow for personal time but are always open to discussion. We are also happy to schedule full days away from the ranch if you wish to take a side adventure to one of our many state or national parks.

Your first week or two will be spend with me- Emma, as your host and guide, my husband Greg, our son Cody, our daughter Kala and a mix of our desert dwelling friends. We will explore the land, the area, share nightly dinners and further discuss what this experince looks like to you. TThis time will also include paid training on cleanings. After our period of introduction it will be time for you to take the reins with the support of our son and other friends.

This position does require the willingness and desire to step away from the ever present fast culture, our closest big box store is 76 miles away. (Our experience is most of our helps come just for just that reason.) Problem solving skills are helpful and open and consistent dialogue is a must. These requirments come with the bonus of living in one of the worlds largest certfied dark sky reserves, having the opportunity to swim in the worlds largest spring fed pool, find vantage points where you can see 20-30-40 miles or more, having access to 1000,s of miles of hiking trails in both national and state parks.

We are looking for that someone/s that would like to spend at least at least two months starting early/mid May and up to the full season- mid to end of August.

Case by case basis only! Due to the nature of the business, barking, agressive behavior, wandering is not permitted. Small dogs under 5 lbs are at risk of becoming prey of hawks and buzzards. Cats don't fair well (even toms) due to the presence of coyotes.
